True confessions first: we chose the restaurant for its food (excellent), but we made two return visits to buy the art! We enjoy contemporary art that we can afford. While happily enjoying the soft ambience and delightful food, we discovered that the art was a product of the prodigious and multi-talented owner, Richelle Osborne. Captivated, we returned to the states with three of her pieces.

As for the food? Blighty's has many features ideal for the food driven traveller. Away from the heavily beaten traffic of Victoria Harbor, (you will need a car), you can appreciate the quiet location in the charming Oak Bay neighborhood. Small and popular with locals, (reservations are smart), Blighty's is one of those magical dining spots where the food, wine, atmosphere and service all merge to create a great experience.

Blighty's is our local restaurant for a creative, tasty meal. We had the fish tacos from the Spring menu and they were delicious. Service is warm and friendly from Richelle and her staff.
A great place to enjoy dinner in a cozy yet comfortable setting.

Wonderful. Intimate. Friendly. A favourite place. Simple and thoughtful wine list. Nicely varied menu. Loved the pork chop (locally sourced gorgeous flavours). Classic early season halibut.

Blighty's is our top choice in Victoria for a relaxing, intimate dinner. The food is not simply delicious, made with local ingredients, and carefully prepared - but is also consistently innovative and creative. The friendly owner, Rachelle, strives to accommodate everyone and make them comfortable with her lively dialogue and warm manner. The small size and lack of loud music allows for easy conversation. This in itself deserves a prize. Reservations are wise, but if you don't tend to plan ahead, call anyway, and Rachelle will likely do some magic to find you a table. This is a spot not to be missed - and to be returned to often.

A couple of nights ago we had our 20th meal at Blighty's since first going there some 14 years ago. We've been there for birthdays, special occasions, retirement functions, and just those nights when we didn't feel like cooking. Although we have always considered Blighty's to be our neighborhood restaurant, as "foodies" we definitely understand why it continues to be at or near the top of the Trip Advisor ratings for Victoria. The menu (recently changed for spring 2014) is always creative and fresh (the mussels in the pesto cream sauce we had a couple of nights ago were to die for!!) and the service from Richelle and her team is always wonderful while still informal. If you're from the Victoria region, then you will already know about Blighty's but if you're from out of town and looking for a great dining experience, it's definitely worth the short drive (about 5-8 minutes) from downtown to give this charming restaurant with great food a try.
