Three friends drove down to see the garden and have lunch. It was a treat for all of us. The gardens are wonderful and it was lovely to see a large area which was a shade garden and thus we got to see many unusual plants. The residence is now a dining room/giftshop/office. It is set high on a rock outcropping which afforded us a spectular view of the surrounding area. We ate on the patio as is was a nice day. I had the smoked salmon plate served on artisan bread with an accompanying salad of greens and quinoa, one of my companions had the crab cakes with salad, and the other two had scones with clotted cream and fruit preserves. Various teas and coffee was also served. The food was beautifully presented, fresh and imaginative. We all cleaned our plates. The service was knowedgeable and attentive. I just wish that it was possible to go the restaurant alone without paying the entrance fee to the garden as that makes it a bit pricy. I would even pay a small cover charge but the cost of entrance on top of the food prohibits me from going more than once or twice a year. Pity.
