We really enjoyed our trip on the high seas with POW. Blessed with a sunny day in January, we were taken all the way down to Sooke. We saw lots of marine mammals and fantastic scenery. We’ll be back for sure!

Thank you for your review! We have been truly blessed to have such a mild and spectacular winter, and we are so glad you were able to join us on a January tour. Winter whale watching can be more varied due to weather or wildlife viewing conditions - but typically there are far fewer boats on the water (pleasure crafts and working vessels), so it makes for a much more personalized experience.

We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us and we can't wait for you to join us again the next time you are in Vancouver or Victoria!

Small boat more personal, quicker & easier to manoeuvre to follow whales as they hunt for fish. Our Guide/ Driver, Joe was very polite, considerate & knowledgeable. He tried to get as as close as he was allowed to the whales after spotting them, stopping the boat so they might swim towards us. We were lucky enough to see a group of about 6 orcas that were local to that area. In saying that they travel quite a distance so may only be seen every few weeks, especially in the winter. We also saw a couple of eagles, sea lions & sea otters, however the orcas were definitely the highlight... so beautiful to see them in the wild. More exciting than on a big boat with a lot of people, although cold we were given waterproof jumpsuits, beanies & gloves & told to dress warm. Perfect end to our Canadian Holiday.

My wife and I came to Victoria for a few days on a honeymoon trip around the PNW. We were in Victoria without a car and this was the perfect way to see whales and see Butchart in an afternoon. The boat was comfortable and the staff was incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. We say two pods of whales, and got to see the whales hunt a porpoise which was exciting. I'd recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen Butchart before or who wants an afternoon outing for whales. If you are planning on traveling between Victoria and Vancouver, this can also be a fun way to make the trip that's more interesting than than the V2V and less expensive than the sea planes. You just need to make sure the timing works well for your travels.

This was my third trip with Prince of Whales & once again we had an amazing time. I visit Victoria over the Xmas holidays every year & its alaways a highlight.
Jasper took us out on the zodiac & after maybe half an hour spotted humpbacks which where feeding. They keep surfacing every few moments so got to see lots of them. We then headed back along the coast where he showed us some little bays, the scenery was amazing we even spotted 2 bald eagles. Just as we headed back Jasper had a call to say Orcas had been spotted on the other direction so off we went. Once we found them there was a pod of maybe 20 which where heading back towards the harbour so we got cruse along with them.
Jaspers knowledge was great & really informative he’s an amazing asset to the team
See you again next year!

Mark and crew were very knowledgable and courteous to all passengers. They explained everything about the whales, seals and locations. The equipment and zodiac were clean and obviously well maintained. The weather was spectacular, sunny and calm. It was a very special day for my son and I. We saw approximately 21 humpbacks and got some amazing video. Would highly recommend Prince of Whales Whale Watching.

Thank you so much for your glowing review Russ G! Mark is an incredibly seasoned and knowledgeable skipper, and has spent countless hours researching and cataloging humpbacks and their return to our local waters. He is a wealth of information and we are so glad you enjoyed your time on the water with him.

We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us and we can't wait for you to join us again the next time you are in Vancouver or Victoria!
