Whalewatching with prince of whales brought us close to humpbacks even though the season was over. We saw nice leaps and lots of diving fins. The Zodiac is a powerful boat and the equipment provided to stay dry and warm was very clean and effective. Surely a good experience to recommend!

Dear Simon M, Thank you for your review of Prince of Whales, it is sincerely appreciated! I was very happy to read your kind comments about our boats and equipment, as we do endeavour to keep them in the best shape possible to ensure maximum comfort for our guests. The zodiacs are truly an exhilarating ride, and totally suitable for an intimate experience on the water. Throw in the cruiser suits, and you are ready for an adventure! I was also very happy to hear that you got a chance to see Humpback whales, even though it was outside of peak season. Those types of super lucky, surprising trips are my absolute favourite. They always remind me how lucky we truly are to spot these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Thanks again for writing, and hopefully we will get to host you again one day in the future.
Safe travels!

Thanks to captain Mark and the team at Prince of Whales, we had a fantastic afternoon with 11 orcas sighted, plus eagles and sea lions. They even ordered in the sunshine for us!

Dear DRBuhler, thank you for reviewing Prince of Whales! We are so glad to hear that you had a fun time on one of our trips and got to see whales too. I will pass on your kind words to Mark, but we are afraid he is getting a big ego with all of these awesome reviews! No problem about the sunshine, consider it complimentary with your tour. Safe travels, and hopefully we will see you again one day in the future.

We had a fun ride and the guide was experienced and friendly. Unfortunately we did not see any whales which was extremely disappointing especially when it appears trips the day before and the day after saw plenty. We understand there are no guarantees especially at this time of the year, they are wild animals after all. The part that left us feeling so let down (in addition to not seeing whales which really was a bummer) was that we were under the impression that it was a 3 hour tour. We were late getting suited up and out to the boat because some of the guests were running late coming from their hotel (they let us know about this right away and we didn't mind being a bit late) but then once we were all in the boat a few people showed up that wanted to join the tour. Instead of making them go on the later sailing they allowed them to join us, so we just sat in the boat waiting for them. By the time we left the harbor it was 35-40 minutes past our departure time and the guide said we would probably stay out a bit longer to compensate. Yet there we were right back at the docks at the exact time we should've been back if we had left on time. I get that cruising around for an extra 30 minutes isn't going to magically make the whales appear and everyone was kind of cold and bummed out, but we couldn't help feeling like our time and money had been wasted so that the company could profit more off the trip. It felt pretty disrespectful to us.

Dear KandJ123, thank you for reviewing Prince of Whales. We appreciate your candid comments. Thank you for acknowledging that we are unable to guarantee whale sightings, particularly in February as it is not peak season for seeing Orcas in our waters. I trust that you would not negatively review a company for that. To address your other point about a tardy departure time, I heartily apologize for the inconvenience. I can only say that it is difficult to confirm sailings at this time of year with so few guests visiting Victoria, so we naturally hoped to include last minute guests who would not otherwise have had a chance to take a tour. I also noticed that you wrote that the other passengers on the boat seemed cold and a little worn out after 2.5 hours on the water, so our skipper elected to turn in early. I trust our skippers to tailor the length of the tour a little bit, based on whether whales could be found or not, so as not to needlessly tire out our guests if they have seen enough and enjoyed their trip. If we get the impression that everyone is enjoying themselves and desire to maximize their time on the water, we will certainly stay out as long as we can. Thank you again for your review and we hope to see you again in the summer, if you are back in Victoria or Vancouver.

It was very good! I was lucky to jump the trip a few minutes before they left and it was so worth it!
even though we had been warned that there might not be that many whales and they would be spread out during winter we still saw a lot of them and some even quite close, it was really amazing. Our guide Mark was very knowledgeable and showed a true passion for the wales wcich contributed to making the trip even more awesome.
