“This is the place to stay if you have food allergies!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

One of the many reasons I love this B&B is that the hosts are so accommodating to people with allergies. I am a vegetarian with several food allergies, and the Ashcroft House accommodated this without hesitation. I was served a generous 4 course breakfast for the 4 days of our stay.
At each breakfast you start with muesli /granola/ yogurt, followed by sliced mixed fresh fruit, then homemade baking (with extra to take with you for the day!), and then a hot meal such as: stuffed French toast with toasted pecans and sautéed apples, or Lemon Belgian waffles topped with fresh blueberries, or scrambled eggs with goat cheese and black bean & spinach salad – just to name a few examples. We were always full well into supper time!
We stayed in the beautiful and spacious Sheldon room with a wonderful king size bed. The bed in this room is so unbelievably comfortable! This room also has two comfortable chairs to lounge and read, or rest your legs. The bathroom is bright and cheery with a large shower, and very clean! This room is also lovely because of its large windows which allow lot’s of light during the day, yet it has substantial curtains to block out light to sleep. We loved this room‼

This is the first b & b I have ever stayed in which I could not fault in ANY way. The rooms were scrupulously clean, the beds comfy and the breakfast was to die for. Paulanne was an excellent host. On our second day, we had to leave really early before breakfast was served. We were given a hamper full of goodies which lasted the four of us for two days!! Fantastic!!!

Room Tip: My friends had a double room "Cotswold" and I had twin bedded room "Canterbury"...

My son, another couple and their son stayed 2 nights at Ashcroft House as part of a visit to the University of Victoria. We could not have chosen a more perfect place! The mansion is lovely and beautifully kept, and located in a very nice residential part of Victoria - right by the ocean and a large park, and a short drive or easy walk to downtown, shopping and restaurants. All the rooms were gorgeous with luxurious beds, clean, modern ensuites, TVs, phones and fast wifi. There's complimentary coffee, tea, bottled water, chocolates and candies, plus a large assortment of DVDs and books available for borrowing, and lots of free street parking out front.

But best of all are the warm and generous hosts, Paulanne and David, and their AMAZING 4-course breakfasts! Not only do they lavish you with extraordinary deliciousness, there's enough to sink a BC ferry! The end of breakfast is always accompanied by ziplock bags so you can haul away the still-warm home-baked goodies to enjoy for the rest of the day. They even have gluten-free baked goods for those avoiding wheat/gluten products. We won't stay anywhere else in Victoria now - hands down the best option in the city. Thanks Paulanne and David for a fabulous stay!

Room Tip: The Wedgewood room is large, bright and pretty with a comfy queen bed. The Sheldon room has a huge k...

This was our second stay at Ashcroft House, previously stayed in 2010. It was just as we remembered, we stayed in the Cotswold room which had an en-suite and a lovely comfy bed. The breakfasts are still an experience with so much to eat that you will not need much more until the evening. Ashcroft House is a short walk from the sea and you can take a pleasant walk to the centre of Victoria via the coastal path. Alternatively you can take the more direct route to the centre. Either way Ashcroft House is ideally situated. Paulanne and David are wonderful hosts, we would definitely recommend this B&B for anyone looking for accommodation in Victoria.

The B&B is located in a beautiful neighborhood - close enough to Victoria's key sights & located close to a lovely park. The house itself was well-appointed, with the room to be of a good size and bed particularly comfortable. The brunch is so good, that to itself is worth the stay. And most importantly, we foudn the B&B owner to be very warm and accomodating.

By the way, did I mention the brunch is amazing?!

:-)

You won't regret staying here!

My husband and I just returned from 4 days and 3 nights at this stunning home. Paulanne and David are amazing, warm and generous people that made our delayed honeymoon trip (5 years later) absolutely unforgettable. Ashcroft House is beautifully kept, and the location to downtown and the beach unsurpassed. The breakfasts were beyond words, and were the best meals we ate in Victoria. We had the Orchid room, and it was beyond expectations! It was so nice to know we could relax in that wonderful tub at the end of our adventures. Having the kitchenette was an added bonus. We even ended our wanderings early just so we could hang out in our room. I simply couldn't recommend the Ashcroft House enough. If you are heading to Victoria, this is the place you need to stay.

Room Tip: The Orchid room has a couples soaker tub and a kitchenette that are worth every penny.

My wife and i spent 2 nights here in the sun drenched Wedgewood room and it was great. Paulanne and David are a lovely couple who own and run Ashcroft. The breakfast is comprehensive and tasty, and Paulanne seemed happy to accommodate any food allergies/issues etc. The home itself is a heritage building that is large and looked after. It's in a great area, a short walk down to the ocean and the beautiful park that sits on it as well as the main city centre. The room was large with it's own private ensuite & the bed was comfortable. We also saw the Sheldon room which looked opulent and large. There are tea/coffee making facilities on the floor of the rooms and the sitting areas around the house are open to guests and nice and relaxing. we felt at home here with the warmth of David and Paulanne and would certainly recommend this B&B to any travellers hitting Victoria!

Room Tip: The wedgewood or sheldon rooms would be our picks!
