“Very pleasant stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 22, 2009

The basement has been converted to several guest rooms each with a private bath. There is also a common kitchenette. The owner was having work done on her kitchen so she gave us vouchers for $7 off a nearby cafe or the coffee house. The room was clean, the bed comfortable. In a lovely neighborhood. Walking distance to downtown. Beautiful garden with chairs and a table to enjoy and watch the hummingbirds.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 19, 2008

My girlfriend and I, we stayed here for 10 nights and overall it was a great experience. We got an excellent rate (it was low-season and we got no breakfast). Room was very clean (done every day), quiet and the owner was very nice! She even invited us for a free breakfast, when we were the only guests. The breakfast was nothing spectacular, but I don't know how it is normaly.
The private entrance and the offstreet parking are nice, but the best thing is the location! Down the street (about 100m) is Cook Street Village which is a really nice district. e.g. a great pizzeria, nice pub, grocery store, RBC,...
Beacon Hill Park is also only a 3min. walk away. Checkout this park!!! Also in walking distance: the coast (beautiful sunset) and the inner harbour with fairmont empress, parliament, government street (20min).
I can absolutely recommend this B&B!

  • Liked — location and cleanliness
  • Disliked — no wi-fi, but we used the neighbours'!

I would like to compliment the Wrigleys on their review; however I would like to comment on a few things. It was the end of the season and they were on a tight budget so as they seemed a nice young couple I offered them an extremely good rate as they said they weren't bothered about breakfast and would use the guests kitchen area and have what they wanted and when they wanted it. I felt quite sorry for them as there was never any appearance that they had had breakfast and no food in the kitchen or fridge. So one morning I asked if they would like to come upstairs and have a cooked breakfast. I asked what they would like. They said they would like bacon, scrambled eggs and hash browns. This is what I made for them plus fruit salad, juice, toast, jam and tea or coffee - all very nicely served on Royal Albert china in our cozey dining room. They were very enthusiastic and appreciative about the breakfast in the morning so I am really surprised they made a negative comment about breakfast. Any future visitors upon reading my guests comment book will see that guests have been overjoyed not only with the cleanliness, quietness and friendliness of our b & b but also the superb breakfasts. It would also be nice if they had indicated that the reason they did not have breakfast served in the morning was their wish.
