Nice things off the top. The hotel is beautiful. The lobby is cozy. The rooms are stylish. It's well appointed and has the feel of a W or the like.

That's about it.

I agree with previous reviews about the restaurant. Small tapas style and not much selection. They try hard but the food definitely doesn't match the price tag.

We booked a romance package for our honeymoon. That included bubble, breakfast and a spa.

No bubble was in our room. No breakfast was delivered. In fact, no menus were in our room. We called to ask for them, they didnt arrive. 30 mins later we had the service desk just read it to us over the phone.

The spa is NOT AT THE HOTEL. We wandered to the lobby 5 mins before our scheduled treatment only to discover the spa is a $10 cab ride on the other side of downtown. Not at the time of booking, not at the time of checkin, not at the time of calling to ask to change our spa treatments did anyone mention the spa was OFF SITE.

Not in the guide book of services on the coffee table is there a mention that you need to give yourself plenty of time to hoof it across town to get your pedi.

This was EXTREMELY troubling to us as this was our wedding night / honeymoon stay. The hotel knew this and dropped the ball in many many many instances.

Other reviews here go on about the beauty, and give equal time to the lack of attention from the service staff.

Agreed. Just because you're beautiful doesn't mean you don't have to try. At $300 a night I wish we'd booked at Bear Mountain and got a golf game tossed in.

Perhaps this hotel is worth it for government workers in need of a self catering set up next to the legislature, but it sure isn't worth the rate.

Our apologies for the errors that ocurred during our busy summer season and your stay with us, that left you with less than a satisfactory view of the Oswego Hotel and the team.

At the time of your stay the staff gave problem resolution to the errors and my apologies that this did not assist in changing your view of the hotel.

We appreciate your comments so that we can work together as a team to ensure these things do not continue.

Unfortunately we do not have a spa on the property and have never advertised that we do so. We have a partnership with a local spa downtown but they are seperate to the operations of the hotel

Once again thank you for continuing to bring these points to our attention. This helps with the team on working on the details and improvements required

First, you must book a one bedroom and not a bachelor's as the bachelors have a pull down bed which is very uncomfortable. Note I have stayed here three times.

What you will find in either room though is a beautiful well-appointed kitchen with gorgeous appliances (which I would be happy to have at home!)

The one bedroom is much more comfortable as it has a comfortable sitting area that pulls out into another bed if you need it. There are also apples in each suite if you're hungry.

Now for a few detractors. First off, the hotel guide doesn't seem to meet the amenities the hotel actually offers. In some cases there is a menu in the guide, sometimes not. If you ask for a menu, it is completely different than what you would have found in the guidebook. And the food offering is TINY. There make an extremely small number of dishes, and they are all tapa style; although what they do have tastes good.

I love having breakfast in bed, but in this place I can't really do that because there are so few options on their breakfast menu and sometimes there isn't even a server to deliver it!

They tend to have service issues and not do what they say they will do and generally miss things. On check-in there were Cheerios on my floor.

And they don't have feather pillows. This is a huge oversight. I only sleep on feather pillows and I actually can't get a decent sleep without it. And when the sun comes up in the room, even with the blinds closed it is VERY bright as the blinds are while and feel like they practically glow.

In spite of all this, it is a beautiful place in a good location and it was nice enough for me to try a few time. Next time though, I don't think I'll be choosing it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to complete the review of the Oswego Hotel.

We very much appreciate your comments so that I can work with my teams on improving the weaker areas on service that you mentioned.

With regard to the Menu - our Bistro has a Tapas style menu which is small plates and smaller portions. As I am sure you are aware Tapas should be enjoyed with multiple plates and shared. Again your comments about the tiny portions for Breakfast I will share with the Chef and adjust as necessary.

Our Bistro reopened in the Spring and we have received some great feedback with the new style and menu. I will be sure to review all points with the food and beverage team.

We hope to have to have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the Oswego Hotel.

My wife and I stayed here for one night while the kids stayed with grandpa and grandma, and we had the best sleep in weeks. Because the hotel is in a quiet area we could keep a window open, and with the overhead fan we stayed cool despite the lack of A/C. Service in the bistro was excellent. Our one bedroom unit was spacious and fully equipped, although we didn't make any meals in the room. We enjoyed the short walk to and from downtown where we had dinner, although it was tempting to take one of the horse drawn carriages that regularly pass by the hotel.

Stayed in a two bedroom suite with two full modern ensuites - great for two female friends traveling together. Nice views of Harbour and mountains from small/cozy balcony. Very modern kitchen with all the necessities. Down pillows/comforters, very clean/white linens. Short/easy walk to harbour area and museum. Great staff, very nice restaurant on-site. Market a short distance walk. Also Sips wine bar close and very good and accommodating. Free internet on second floor. All in all a wonderful stay! Underground parking (for a fee)

Quite enjoyed this economical "boutique hotel". We had a chic 2 bedroon suite for a week, and I could have easily stayed longer. The hotel is in a quiet residential neighborhood a stone's throw from downtown. The vibe was casual and friendly, and had all the west coast trappings I would expect - a secure area to store our rental bicycles, healthy treats in the lobby, good environmental stewardship. The only criticisms I would give are minor - they need a towel bar for the hand towels in the bathroom, a reading light in the living room.

A small, new hotel one block off the harbor. Great views on the upper floors. Many of the rooms are suites. Sleek, modern decor. Somewhat cheaply furnished. I don't think the hotel will wear well with time. It also seems as if the property may have been developed with an idea toward an aprtment conversion, as the rooms are more like small apartments. Small, but helpful staff. Few amenities.

We came to Victoria for 2 nights and decided on the Oswego hotel as kind of a random choice. We like the location and the suites are fairly good including a pretty well stocked kitchen (with utensils, pots, pans). The satellite TV and free Internet are quite good additions. What kind of bothered us was the Internet/website saying all rooms have Queen beds when they are only Double beds. NOTE!. And strange that if you park below using the meter, its only 8 dollars per 24 hours instead of the 10 dollars the hotel charges. Next, when we called to book. they had no regular one bedrooms available. Only an upgrade for $40 more. But the hotels.com did have them available. Strange... Finally, the pillows are new and thick and not too compressible... Watch out you may very well get a kinked neck here! Bring your own pillow if you must book here. The staff seemed too young to be running day to day operations here. They were not too understanding of complaints that we made. There are many other hotels to try in the immediate area including other 3 star hotels. ALmost forgot... the young staff booked us on 2nd floor when we got there... immediately above the bar/restaurant. We asked if anything else available and yes. we got offered a higher floor after we asked. I dont like this practice of offering a poor room first.. Anyways, its a great location, and not bad price for what you get, but improvements could be made.
