My husband and I stayed here for our 1st anniversary and our 10th, and our 48 th was even more delightful. From the warm welcome we received, to a surprise tor an upgraded room, it was the most wonderful time. The room had large windows in 2 directions looking over the Harbor, and had the most beautiful wood work, furniture, and lovely bath. There were two overstuffed chairs, a table, desk and a feinting couch. I think that was the most lovely room we have ever stayed in. We had lovey breakfasts each morning the the beautiful dining room with open beam ceilings, lovely fireplace and mostly original from the early 1900's. The service was excellent, and the two lovely waitresses spoiled us tremendously. The hotel staff were warm and friendly, and very helpful even loaning us an umbrella. We ended up staying an extra night as we couldn't bare to leave.... We hope to go back for our anniversary next year and for our 50th. Victoria is a lovely city, and even beautiful in February with flowers already starting to bloom. If you get to Vicotoria, I would highly suggest staying here.

When planning our day-trip to Victoria, this was definitely on the list! My Dad suggested we do this. It was highlight of Victoria. The hotel was beautiful! We drank the Empress Blend tea, and had tea sandwiches, golden rain scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, strawberries with fresh whipped cream, and mini desserts. As a parting gift we each received a box of the Empress Blend teabags! That was really cool!

When people heard we were going to Victoria, everyone told us to have tea at the Empress. So we did. It's a really neat experience, sitting there sipping hot tea from fancy china looking around you can almost picture royalty joining you. The treats are tasty, but be prepared for an enormous bill. Try and remember you're paying more for ambiance and fond memories than actual edibles--then it's worth it.

Very upscale. We stopped for tea. 95.00 for tea, wow. I thought maybe 50.00 would have been plenty so be prepared. I guess once in a lifetime experience.
