“Overpriced halibut portions”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2014

Paid $22.00 for 2 pc halibut, don't even pay that in Tofino wear the fish is right off the boat. This fish didn't taste fresh and my wife's fish tacos were undercooked and mushy. Next time I'll go to red fish blue fish, the fish is fresh and big portions.

“Better Than Barb's”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2014

The seafood is local, fresh and sustainably caught. Add to that downright delicious (we had soup, and halibut and chips). The batter was crisp to the last bite, and flavour in spades.

“Great food and fun location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2014

We stopped here for dinner on our only night in Victoria. Fisherman's Wharf was a short walk from our hotel and it was the perfect evening for it. I chose The Fish Store based on the reviews I read on Trip Advisor, and we were not disappointed! Between the four of us we tried: Halibut Malu - a soup with lentils and curry flavors, a BBQ Salmon Fishwich, Red Thai Curried Mussels - quite spicy, and both the Halibut and Cod Fish and Chips. As others have said, you order at the till and grab a table while you wait for them to call you. Everything we had was really tasty - some of the best cooked fish and chips I've had. The soup was flavorful and the mussels were tasty - albeit a bit spicy for me despite the staff's description of "not too spicy." My son begged us to go back the next day so he could have another Salmon Fishwich! It was busy, but we were still able to find a table and enjoy the sunshine. The fish and chip restaurant next store had a huge line up, so I'd be curious to see what it was like considering we thought the fish and chips at the Fish Store were great. Worth the trip to Fisherman's Wharf!

“About as good as fish and chips can be”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2014

My son and partner took me here for lunch shortly after I arrived at my harbour hotel. We were walking to Ogden Point along the waterside walkway. It's a fresh fish store, with an enormous variety of seafood for sale, some still in tanks. You order at a little stand, then take your food to a picnic table to gaze out at the harbour. We had halibut and chips, one piece for $14, two for $20, which you might feel is a tad high for a place without a lot of restaurant amenities, but worth every penny. Fresh fish, light batter, terrific fries, and who wouldn't prefer looking at the ocean and breathing salt air to sitting inside at a generic formica table?

“Lovely simple seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2014 via mobile

We went there on a weekend afternoon. The wharf was full of people but no line for 'The fish store'. The place next door, which serves fish and chips had a long line of people waiting.
The food was delicious and we went three times to buy some more portions.
The whole Fisherman's Wharf has a great atmosphere and lovely boat houses one can view.
Highly recommend!
