“A nice Marriott”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 29, 2013

Stayed here with our kids for a night using Marriott points. The room is nice - is the same as any nice Marriott you have ever stayed at - and clean. It's a little on the small side. The location is great - easy to get to from the ferry, short walked to town but a little quieter than the center of town. Concierge (actually two different ones) had good recommendations for lunch and dinner. Everyone we encountered here was very nice.

This was a family vacation in August 2013, and I was very pleased with this hotel. As Marriott's go, this is one of the better ones, and I'm a big Marriott fan and have stayed in a zillion of them. The building is relatively new and modern, and all the facilities work as expected. (One note: the left-most elevator of the three guest elevators is shabby and badly worn; it should be repaired or replaced). Our room was not ready when we arrived, so they upgraded us to a slightly nice and higher room with a handsome view of the harbor. The parking garage is well-lit, clean and felt very safe -- but you still pay for parking, even as a guest in the hotel. The concierge was extraordinarily helpful and -- my wife insists I add this -- Very handsome! We had two breakfasts at the hotel, one dinner, and drinks every night. I can report there is outdoor seating at the restaurant, with a friendly duck who looks for crumbs; and all the restaurant food was quite tasty. Our breakfast waiter was a hoot -- I should have recorded his name, because he was delightful and really made us laugh... even at 6:30 in the morning! Two slight negatives stop this from being a perfect hotel: the restaurant prices were, to my mind, quite high. We had a glass of wine and a single malt scotch one night, and the bill was C$60 -- Ouch! Breakfasts were C$24 each. So the value is not really there. Secondly, in the bar one night the bartender was decidedly grumpy, rude and dismissive, and made me wait at the bar while he polished some glasses. There's really no excuse for that. Other than those two little issues, this is a fine hotel and highly recommended.

Amongst the historical buildings of the inner harbor, we were pleased to find such a contemporary hotel. The location is fantastic, located right behind the Empress and within easy walking distance to museums, restaurants, pubs and beaches - and the water and mountain views are beautiful. With Marriott Platinum status we were upgraded to a suite on the concierge floor, with a huge patio. Other reviewers have mentioned the lack of patio furniture but we didn't let that stop us from pulling out the chairs in the room and sitting out with a bottle of wine. Great concierge lounge service with heavy appetizers in the evening and full breakfast in the morning.

Room Tip: Request a balcony if the weather is nice, and find a way to sit outside and enjoy the view.

Lovely hotel with a decent sized swimming pool. We had the concierge package which was very good value (but be aware that this is closed after breakfast on Fridays for the weekend). We had a great room on the 16th floor with a balcony. Will definitely go back!

A very nice hotel. We spent only 1 night in may/13. The breakfast is excellent, and the rooms are very confortable. The location in downtown Victoria is wonderfull.
Good restaurants nearby, and the experience in Victoria Island amazing.

We visited this hotel starting August 23 for only 2 nights. It was a pleasant surprise located conveniently close to the harbor and other attractions. There are other better known hotels near it, but this was a really nice choice. We went on a orca whale watch out of Fisherman's Wharf and it was probably only a 15 minute walk over there. Further, the rest of the harbor for ferries, restaurants, etc., was only a few blocks away.

While staying there we enjoyed many members of the staff who were very nice and helpful. Thanks to Hector in the Fire and Water lounge as well as thanks and our appreciation to Vanessa at the Front Desk for her help.

Room Tip: The hotel has a guest laundry which really comes in handy if you have been traveling for a while or...

Staying at this Marriott will be something I will look forward to again and again in my life. From the superior customer service from Valets, and Front Desk Staff to Room Service they made our stay fabulous and friendly!! Because of our Marriott Rewards status we were graciously upgraded to a suite without even asking. The suite was breath-taking!! I smile just reflecting back. It has a formal entry, large table/breakfast area and living room, and balcony with stunning views. This room was so luxuriously appointed it rivaled Ritz Carlton. I was even more impressed by the comfortable bedroom, and exquisite walk-thru marble master bathroom with separate shower/tub and sinks. The breakfast we ordered was delivered so nicely and each item was perfectly delicious. This hotel is a favorite of ours now and we look forward to being treated like valued guests-something the staff here does better than anywhere else we have stayed. Thanks to all for their welcoming spirit, what a wonderful vacation!

Room Tip: Use Marriott Rewards for points you can use at these fine establishments.
