“Goodnight Victoria!”
Reviewed February 6, 2014

Had some family business in Victoria & wanted somewhere close to downtown so I could walk.
Checked in to a suite at the Parkside Hotel & Spa - I have stayed before, but it just keeps getting better. There is now a small cafe near the lobby, where you can purchase delicious baked goods, coffees and specialty teas. In addition they offer light fare (mussels in wine etc.) and beer & wine.

My suite had an excellent view overlooking the downtown and towards the harbour. Nice little balcony to sit out and have a coffee. There is a kitchenette with coffee & tea, full fridge and kitchen basics. Nice touch was some complimentary bottled water.

The staff are friendly and helpful! It must have been an early morning, because in my groggy state I couldn't get the kettle to turn on. No problem, a quick call to the front desk sent help pronto. Wow did I feel silly when the young lady pointed out to me that it was just the cable plug in at the base of the kettle that was a bit loose…What can I say - it was early…

The bed was super comfy, nice linens. Two gas fireplaces, one in the living room & one in the bedroom. Large soaker tub in ensuite and separate bath / shower in 2nd bath.

The time prior I stayed with my kids and the pullout couch worked fine for them.

Another reason I like the Parkside is the convenience and proximity to downtown. You can walk to the museum, inner harbour and Empress Hotel within 5-10 minutes.

Looking forward to my next little getaway to Victoria already!

Room Tip: I had a harbour facing suite in the tower facing downtown.

The Parkside is simple awesome to be honest......simply awesome. As travelers with a small dog, we are always happy to find something that has a kitchen and a comfortable space where we can bring our pooch and the Parkside is it in spades.

Located a stones throw (2 short blocks) from the conference center and Parliament Buildings, it offers easy access to everything in Victoria. Directly across from St. Anne's Academy (a historic building) it is more residential than commercial.

Suites are lovely with large windows, most with full kitchens including a stove/oven and all the amenities you could ever want while traveling and cooking. Based on a 4 room design, there is a combo bathroom that has a big old fashioned tub (also has a shower feature), big bedroom, kitchen/dining room and living room. Our suite's bedroom windows overlooked the street (it was very quiet) and the park and the balcony, electric fireplace and big screen TV topped everything off nicely.

Beds were super comfortable......absolutely super comfortable which is wonderful to find in a boutique hotel because sometimes they can be iffy.

Staff were awesome and very helpful in every way.

The Parkside has a lot of wonderful ambiance and you can tell that there is a lot of care and attention put into the property and ensuring that guests are well taken care of. It gets 5 stars from me, but if I could give it one more, I would without hesitation.

Finally.....we've found 'our' Victoria hotel!!

Stay here whenever I'm in Vic. Great place. Recommend it to everyone who visits victoria. I can usually find deals online, but at peak times and in the summers rates can be pretty high so try to go in the off seasons since victoria weather is always mild.

We decided to do a quick trip to Victoria to just have some down time with our children and do some back to school shopping. The Parkside was recommended to us as it is an all-suite property and right downtown. I loved this property because of how beautiful the lobby is. As you walk in the first thing that catches your eye is the large beautiful fireplace and the open space. The lobby makes you feel that you are somewhere tropical and I loved the walkways over the small streams with fish in them. The staff at the front desk were anything but pleasant. Upon checking in I greeted a young lady and asked her how her day was. The staff member only greeted me with a grunt and was not interested in talking with me any further other than to ask for my credit card. The manager who was working next to her seemed to be in the same mood and just as anti-social. The suites are convenient for family travel as you do have a stocked kitchen, and separate living area. This was nice for the four of us as the kids were able to relax for a few minutes while my husband and I enjoyed a glass of wine. The suite was disappointing in the fact that the bathroom was small and regular maintenance did not appear to be done. There were paint chips in the wall, dirt in the corners and chips in the furniture. Our children loved the pool and the coffee shop that is attached to the property makes an excellent latte and offer light entrees. However, this property does not have an actual restaurant. A couple of other reasons that I would not recommend this property is the following; the parking lot is small and street parking is not great. There is an underground parking lot, however it is always nice to be able to unload your luggage at the front of the hotel before parking. The property is downtown however not convenient to any shopping or restaurants. If it is raining and cold like it was when we were there and you need to walk somewhere you will be very uncomfortable. Better to catch a taxi or use your vehicle. In my opinion there are much nicer and more central hotels in the downtown Victoria area.

Room Tip: Request a suite with a patio so you may sit outside and enjoy the sunset.

Our stay at the Victoria Parkside Hotel could not have been nicer. The hotel itself is beautiful. The location is great, close to the Parliament Buildings, across from St Anne's Academy, close to good restaurants, and shopping.

Our room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. It was more like a condo then a hotel room as it had a full kitchen, large living area, bathroom and bedroom. The sleep quality was excellent as the king size bed was very comfortable, and considering the location of the hotel, it was very quiet at night. We could even sleep with our window slightly open to enjoy the fresh air. We had a large patio over looking their courtyard which is very pretty, as are the grounds of the hotel, and sitting areas inside.

We made use of their swimming pool which is large and clean.

The staff were also great, always with a smile, helpful and very accommodating. As you can see everything was perfect, which it was! When it Victoria again, this is the place we will be staying, as it would be hard to beat the wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the courtyard or with a view. Please note: I cannot rate Children activi...

I stayed there for 1 night for business and the hotel was fantastic. They have a great little bistro by the lobby and a decent breakfast upstairs. The room was large and luxurious. Would definitely visit the hotel again! All the pictures on their website clearly reflect the stay you will experience and that was fantastic!

What a beautiful looking room--high end finishings, in floor heating, king-sized bed: it looked lovely-- too bad it was broken. Well, the washer and dryer was broken, the baseboard heater in the bedroom was broken, the remote for the fireplace in the bedroom was broken, and the fireplace in the living room kept turning itself on and agravating our teenage daughter who was on the pull out bed (the temperature was set right too so that wasn't the problem).

On the plus side the staff did bring us blankets when we complained about how cold it was because the baseboard heater in the bedroom wasn't working.

Would Never Stay here Ever Again. We were quite impressed with the price because we booked in advance but in the end it wasn't worth a cent.
