“Great downtown location without the frenzy”
Reviewed March 8, 2012

Just off the main drag, a nice walk to the shops and resturants, lovely greenspace across the street and a sweet old church on the corner. Really enjoyed our stay here, the staff are very nice, the suites are spacious. We actually loved our suite so much that we cooked dinner and stayed in. The kitchen had everything you would need, the pots and pans were actually a decent quality , there was a wine opener & glasses. Enjoyed the fireplace and the little balconey and the deep soaker tub. Lots of towels for the shower and tub, a nice bath bomb for your bath indulgence.
The pool here is large, you could easily do laps if that was your thing. The exercise room was really nice with high- end equipment and a big hot tub for your aching muscles. But you could book time @ the spa for that, which we did!!! Great massage!
I think this is a great place to stay. My one complaint here is paying for parking. This seems to be the latest thing for hotels. It's crap! You're already paying for the hotel, it already has lots of parking which most of the time in underground so there is no additional land being used. So what's with ripping off your guests 15 or more dollars a nite? I do understand when there is a parking lot say across the street or something and maybe valet parking. Nothing against this resort in particular, this seems to be a trend @ alot of places lately. Some genius thought this up to make some money!

I have stayed at the Marriott which is a stone's throw away and rated it high - but the Parkside Resort & Spa is even better if you ask me. Parkside is part of a larger residential/commercial complex right near downtown and I didn't even realize it consisted of a hotel - so I was surprised when I got this place on Hotwire. What further blew me away was the hotel itself - my room was a full one bedroom condo with two fireplaces, two flat screen TV's, a full kitchen (including dishwasher and full size fridge), and even heated bathroom floors. It even had a large patio overlooking the inside atrium. There is a nice 25m pool and a large hot tub (which not enough hotels have these days) below an average fitness room (but good enough).

The only negatives I could find was the lineup to check in initially (not their fault - just happened to get there at the wrong time - all the other times I went through the lobby this wasn't an issue at all!) and the weak AC in my room - most rooms actually don't have AC as Parkside is one of those eco-green hotels utilizing more environmentally friendly technologies - but mine did and it couldn't keep the heat down to a level I would have liked even though it was February!

Despite this, the hotel and complex itself was far more than I expected and easily the nicest place I have stayed in Victoria - book it if you can and you will not be dissapointed! You can walk in a couple minutes to the waterfront/legislature/museum as well.

As a frequent traveller to Victoria on business trips, often lasting 2+ days, I was thrilled to learn about the Apart-Hotel accommodations provided at the Parkside. The basic rooms are spacious and appointed with all you need to do in-room preparation...the detail paid to ensuring guests have all they need to meet their needs is increible - for example a block of knives of various types, a dishwasher, a blender. Comfy beds, well equipped (but not the BEST equipped of my travels - that compliment is reserved for a certain Vancouver Hotel), TVs in bedroom and livingroom, fireplaces, a lengthy swimming pool, a movie theatre (free)....the list goes on. Friendly staff, very helpful. Only slight criticism I would have is that the parking is a bit confusing for first time, tired visitors but I got through that. Tons of amenities, restaurants, nitelife in the area. I haven't had a chance to sample the spa services yet. This has become my new home away from home :D

From the freshwater pool to the organic nuts we thoroughly enjoyed our recent stay at the Parkside. We're 'young' retirees who love the contemporary urban side of Victoria with it's amazing cultural scene. As the Parkside offers everything for a stay of any length we're looking forward to returning as it's always the right season to be in Victoria.

Room Tip: Speak to Selena at the front desk. She (and her colleagues) went the extra mile.

Stayed the week of BC Day celebrations. Lots to see and do. Great recommendations from the front desk of eateries where the locals eat - The Blue Fox, John's Place. This hotel is located withing walking distance of any place downtown and the harbor. It was also easy to drive to Buchart Gardens, Casino, Ferries from there. Would recommend this hotel and hope to come back.

Yes, it was almost a year ago when we visit Victoria and spend a week at Parkside. Not such a good week...Yes the place is beautiful, beautifuly cold! It seem to us that the team was always over load: to busy to smile or take a minute for us.I honestly belive that we are good "customers", we like the be low profil and are quit independent But we did neede help at certain times, and help did not come easy! Yes beautiful at first glance, but we find that the appliance where not top quality; the whasing machine was particularly cheap...
Twice in the last 3 days of our stay we experience a flood in the studio!!! Not from the whashing machine...from the studio next to our! The second times they moved us in an other studio...Rush! Help from the maintenace men, but no excuse from the management...Not a word, nothing. We then left for Pacific Shore Resort and Spa, your older sister for the rest of our vacation...We advice the staff at the front desk, in case we had forgot somthings in the rush of moving...In fact we forgot a full bunch of drie food in the kitchen! Nobody never contact us at Pacific Shore netheir here back home later. We are Awiawest Owner's and we since have a bitter taste about Awiawest relationship with their members.
My first language is french, hope I explain my slef to be understood.
We love Vancouver Island and have been there a few times. Mow we wonder??? For sure Parkside will not be are next stay.

Nathalie and all the staff made us feel like royalty for the 3 days we stayed at the hotel. The 1 bedroom suites are spacious and the whole family (2 kids in the sofa/bed) was very comfy.
The pool is world class, the theater has those huge leather chairs and the coffee shop/bar serve excellent espressos. A few blocks from downtown without the noise; it was simply ideal.
Thank a lot!
