It is a great and beautiful place to wander and stroll. There are several shops, restaurants and ice cream parlors. Definitely, try the ice cream bars at ROGERS CHOCOLATES.
The Victoria Pier and area around the Parliament Building and Empress Hotel is beautiful! Everybody's out walking around and enjoying the sights. This area is tourist central for catching many different types of water excursions. Immediately above the area on the main street is the place to catch the many tour buses that stop. There is a visitor's center with a restroom (important because there are not many around). Inside the center you will find information on so many things. Your day(s) will be filled with things to do in no time at all. There are many places to eat and shop. Finding this area was a very pleasant experience. I wished every city you visited was this well organized.
We went down to the pier just to have a quick peek and spent hours taking in the sights! Such a gorgeous landmark not to be missed when in Victoria. Grab an ice cream or a snack and sit on a bench and watch it all happen. Don't forget your Cameras! Always something* happening down at Victoria Pier!
Very busy area in August but it is vacation time. Lots of gardens to view in the area. Especially across the street at the Empress. You can watch the pier busy with water taxis, whale boat tours and sea planes. There is a visitor information centre that has lots of vacation pamphlets. Plenty of places to get something to eat.
Catch the float planes from here, organise tours, a few historic buildings and statues, but people mainly come here for the food - line at one place was quite long. Didn't take long to walk around just for a look.
