the weather was wonderful. there are many attractions to see. Def go see the gardens at the empress hotel. there are also many side performers that perform along the pier. everything is within walking distance, and the shops are original.

We used most of one day visiting Butchart gardens and the rest visiting the butterfly garden which is nearby. They are on the same public bus route which was good. The next day we visited some parks closer to town and took the scenic, public bus route number2. The rest of our stay was spent at the harbour, shopping around town and looking at historic sites. They even have their own castle. There is usually some entertainment at the harbour, working for donations.

From Victoria we were able to visit the Butchart Gardens . On a whale watching tour we saw the awesome killer whales. There are little boats that take you to different towns. When you depart the boat you are handed a voucher; with the voucher you can proceed to another destination where you can shop or find a nice restuarant.

I hope this is the same pier walk out to the lighthouse. The pier walk is located next to where the cruise ships dock. Walk to the Fisherman's Wharf and then keep walking about 1/2 mile down the street to the cruise ships. Walk into the parking lot and you will see to your left a pier that extends quite a way out to a lighthouse. The pier is about 7 or 8 feet wide with no side rails and the drop on each side is about 25 or 30 feet. This is an A Ride at Disneyland. The walk out to the lighthouse is about 1/3 of a mile (i"m guessing) and the scenery is amazing. There are benches and seats out at the end by the lighthouse. I also heard that you can see octopus off the side by the end. Do at your own risk.
