“Spacious, spotless, and helpful”

This is a light and spacious basement suite with large windows in the main living area, and a wide-open feel. The kitchen and dining area have plenty of room for a large family gathering. The whole place was spotless and neatly decorated.

The owners were very welcoming without being at all intrusive. They pointed out restaurants, pubs, shopping and attractions in the area, were available to answer any questions, and communicated thoroughly about any issues that might impinge on our enjoyment (the plumbers working in the yard, their nervous dog).

This was a very good spot and it's on our list of places to check first for next time we're in the area.

Indeed, such an apt tagline for Wallace house!
we stayed at Wallace house for 3 nights and didn't miss our home for 1 moment. In fact, it was so hard for us to check out the last morning we departed. wish we had few more days to spend there.
Kirk and Gloria are wonderful hosts - very kind and friendly. They have done a fantastic job to maintain the rental as well as the property including front yard and garage (private) very well. They gave us a warm welcome at arrival and ensured all our needs are taken care of. Full kitchen, cozy beds in both bedrooms, jetted tub in the bathroom all added to our comfort. Although the the rental was a lower unit in the house, big windows and spacious, bright interiors ensure that it is nothing like a basement apartment. the kitchen was also stacked with breakfast supplies and village stores are ~15-20mins walk to bring other supplies.
the location is amazing and quiet, away from the urban hustle... just what we wanted. Yet it's only 10-15mins drive to world-famous tourist attractions such as Butchart gardens and 20-25mins to Victoria. views of the ocean add a romantic charm. Since the days we stayed there were bright and sunny, we spent one afternoon lounging in the front yard watching the robins, hummingbirds and other birds fly by... felt truly close to nature.
All and all, it was a memorable stay and we will visit again.

“Best kitchen ever”

We have rented apartments in many different places in the US and several other countries. This is one of the best places overall and - hands down - has the nicest and best stocked kitchen. As others have said Kirk and Gloria leave everything you need for your first breakfast - bread, Cheerios, milk, orange juice, homemade jam, fruit, coffee and tea. In addition, there are many small items such as salt, pepper, some spices, salad dressing and tin foil. It saved us money not to have to buy quantities of these things that we wouldn't use much of. Of course, there also were pots, pans, silver wear, utensils and dishes, but I think this is the first time we've also had lidded dishes for microwave cooking and small plastic containers with lids for storing leftovers. The plastic containers also came in handy when we packed a sack lunch one day.

The apartment is roomy. It is a basement apartment but has much natural light from the windows. As someone else said, it was fun to look up into the pretty garden and look at the flowers and birds.

The location is amazing too - in a quiet residential area (we slept very well) that borders on an agricultural area. From the front yard, you can see over the farm fields to the bay. You could walk to town to a nice grocery store, Thrifty Market, in one direction and a take rural walk in another direction. I am sorry we were only there for a few days and I didn't get to take many walks.

The bathroom was stocked with large bottles of shower gel and shampoo and also with a many travel sized items so there was a good selection.

Kirk and Gloria were very nice. It would have been nice to talk to them more. Overall, I have no complaints, other than that we didn't choose to stay longer. I hope to remedy that some day. Thanks Kirk and Gloria!

PS - my teenage daughter just said. "Write a good review, I really, really liked it."

Kirk and Gloria were very helpful with all our questions for directions and needs. This suite has everything you need, a lazy boy recliner to relax after a hydro tub in the evenings. Wonderful place to get away, we recommend Wallace house, and hope to return next year.

We have stayed in many, many vacation rentals in both the United States and foreign countries - this was definitely one of the best. Lots of room, great amenties, lovely area and fabulous hosts; what more could you ask for? This place absoultely added to our wonderful stay on Vancouver Island and would be our first choice when we return.
