My 11yr old daughter, myself and my husband booked an Afternoon Tea at the Fairmont Empress and it was all I hoped it would be. Not only was the service superior the assortment of tea sandwiches and goodies was delectable! If you have a minute walk around the hotel - it really is stunning! There is a little Empress gift shop that has a wonderful selection of goodies, tea, high-quality souvenirs etc. ENJOY!

Can you say expensive?? However, just for the location, atmosphere and tradition you cannot beat this. It's pretty well an institution in Victoria!

Really surprised to find such a gem of a tea room in Vctoria but then I don't know why as Victoria not only has the quality of goods you might find in London England but it retains the feeling of a genuine community in spite of the tourists (like me!!!). Sadly London has lost that feeling long ago. Just a big city, hungry for the tourist dollar in spite of the residents (who are generally as friendly as they've always been.

The Fairmont Empress still exudes the calm required of a good tea room unlike the bustle of a modern coffee shop (you can still get a great coffee here though if you must. The Earl Grey must surely be the best I have tasted in a long time. Pop in and relax on the way back from the Museum or during/after a busy day shopping. You'll soon see what I mean.

Although this isnt a high tea experience that you may get in a place like London, it is still amazing! The service is great, the strawberries are to die for, and the price is reasonable considering you are paying for the experience as well as the great service. I would highly recommend going here if you are a tourist or if you are looking for a cool date idea! I'd also recommend spending the extra $ and ordering the champagne as it really enhances the experience. Mmm just writing this review makes me want to go back!!

Tea at the Empress is a nice experience and a treat for sure, but it is very expensive. I would recommend going for tea at a less expensive place (there are so many great little places around the downtown area and Oak Bay as well), but make sure you visit the Empress and walk all around inside and out. It's a beautiful hotel full of history. Don't forget to go downstairs and check out all the artifacts down there. Stairs are on the main floor over where all the shops are.
