“Love the experience there every time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

Although this isnt a high tea experience that you may get in a place like London, it is still amazing! The service is great, the strawberries are to die for, and the price is reasonable considering you are paying for the experience as well as the great service. I would highly recommend going here if you are a tourist or if you are looking for a cool date idea! I'd also recommend spending the extra $ and ordering the champagne as it really enhances the experience. Mmm just writing this review makes me want to go back!!

“A cool experience but very expensive.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Tea at the Empress is a nice experience and a treat for sure, but it is very expensive. I would recommend going for tea at a less expensive place (there are so many great little places around the downtown area and Oak Bay as well), but make sure you visit the Empress and walk all around inside and out. It's a beautiful hotel full of history. Don't forget to go downstairs and check out all the artifacts down there. Stairs are on the main floor over where all the shops are.

“Wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 14, 2013

Everything that you would expect. I had visions of Miss Marple sitting at a corner table choosing Earl Grey over Gunpowder tea. I am a large Canadian and didn't walk away hungry. The little sandwiches, the desserts, the service. The room was full of happy diners.

“absolutely lovely”

It is definitely worth the high price for afternoon tea here. We were seated by the window overlooking the bay, and it was beautiful. They catered to my food preferences, and the service was top notch.

“Overrated and overpriced”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 4, 2013

Although advertised that you are expected to be dressed nicer, i saw people wearing runners, sweat pants and T-shirts. Was surprised to see that it's actually tea bags brewed, not loose tea leafs.Service was very poor - very slow and unefficient. The best of all (the only good thing about this experience) was live music (a pianist playing lovely tunes). I won't come again. Sorry.
