I was surprised that the serving portions is huge !!! So don't eat lunch before arriving. Make reservations way ahead of date, fills up fast on weekends. China service is outstanding.

“Skip Tea Time and Save Your Money”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

I took my husband to High Tea at the Empress Hotel for our wedding anniversary thinking we would have an awesome time. Instead, we suffered terrible service, a great amount of food that we could not possibly finish and a whopping bill of over $100.00 for two for tea!

To top it off, after eve though we checked in with the reception, we still have not received our Open Table points.

We will never go back to the Empress. Save your money. There are many better places to dine in Victoria!

“Class and Elegance”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

My wife had been here before and wanted me to experience tea at the Empress. We have done tea at the Crillon and Ritz in Paris. While a bit less formal now, we liked it better than the Ritz. Wife has an allergy to some foods and the staff responded immediately to provide options that avoided the allergy. Food was very tasty, service impeccable, view of the harbor lovely. We would do this again!
