The Huntingdon is a pleasant surprise. Not expensive by downtown Victoria standards yet has a brilliant location two blocks from the waters edge. It comprises a three storey block behind the Gatsby Mansion Inn - get the right room and you are looking over the roofs across the Inner Harbor. The building is showing its age, but persistent careful maintenance has maintained its features and keeps it fresh.
We chose a room with balcony and water views. It had a fully equipped kitchen and loft bedroom over a large living area. The air conditioning was noisy but greatly appreciated given the hot sun in late June (AC is unusual in BC hotels). Unfortunately, there were additional high gable windows with no drapes which let the light in from 5:00am to 10:00pm - not good.
The staff are very attentive and the front desk team are particularly friendly - entering the lobby is more like arriving home than entering a hotel.More
