Ramada Victoria
Ranked #45 of 49 Hotels in Victoria
Reviewed December 13, 2012

My husband and I travelled to Victoria on December 11th, as I had a medical appointment/test which required staying overnight in Victoria; I reserved a room at the Ramada based on the good reviews on trip advisor when I was choosing a hotel with an affordable rate. I asked for a quiet room, and that is what we got;room 419,top floor. The room was spacious, including a small fridge and microwave, coffee maker, etc;very comfortable bed, pillows. We also enjoyed the free hot continental breakfast that the hotel provided. I will be seeing a specialist regarding my medical issues in April 2013 and if the need arises, we will book the Ramada again. I have no problem recommending this hotel to friends.

Thank you for your excellent recommendation of the Ramada Victoria. Your choice of the top floor facing south was a very good one, though the surrounding area is generally quiet. Although we also have fully equipped kitchen suites, all of our rooms have a fridge, microwave and coffee maker, which is what most people need for just an overnight stay but if you stay longer a suite might suit your needs even better. We hope that you will come back to stay with us again in the Spring when you are next in Victoria.

We are just about to head back to the Ramada for a second stay, as we so enjoyed our stay the first time (in the Spring). With a central location on the delightful Gorge waterway, the Ramada offers a peaceful, quiet location set back off the road. The Ramada has easy access to wherever in Victoria you might like to be, whether it's the 5 minute drive to the hospital or to downtown, or the easy access to the Pat Bay Highway, with Buchart Gardens, the Airport, and Schwartz Bay Ferries, or a quick connection to the freeway to the Western Shore communities.
The two-queen rooms are large, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with a large and modern bath/shower room, plus bar fridge, coffee centre, and a microwave by request. For the price, you can't beat this accommodation if you don't mind not being right downtown.

Room Tip: Ask for a two-queen bed room - they are so spacious!

We truly appreciate your very good rating of the Ramada Victoria. We have many guests from different cities on Vancouver Island who find us an ideal choice in accommodation for a lot of the reasons you mention. Most island communities are smaller than Victoria and it can be a bit disconcerting to be thrust into the noise, traffic, lack of parking, and frenetic activity of downtown. You make a good point that we are easily accessible by car to so many areas and directions without having to go to the city centre. As most islanders are familiar with Victoria they are not here as tourists but to do business, attend events, stop in transit to the mainland or to visit family. The fact that we are not right downtown can be a convenience rather than a disadvantage. And…as you mention…the price is right.

We hope to meet you on your upcoming visit to Victoria and hope that you will continue to stay with us as your home away from home.

From entering the hotel, checking in and entering our room it was a positive experience. The suite we had....2 queen beds in the bedroom......fold out sofa in the living area and a fully stocked kitchen was more than adequate for the 3 adults staying in our suite. Television reception and internet connection was poor with the wireless sporatic and IF you got connected it cut out often and for long periods of time. Was advised by the front desk that some rooms have better connection but they were working on it. The beds were beyond confortable and the linen spotlless.......hated to get out of bed most days as it was just like home. (we stayed for 4 days on business). The kitchen was stocked with plates, bowls, glasses, pots pans and all the necessities. The toaster was alittle tired and took forever to toast my bagel but really that was the only glitch. THE HIGHLIGHT of staying at the Ramada was the "Continental Breakfast"........INCREDIBLE !!!! Not just your typical continental breakfast which at most hotels is rather lame. Every day there was something different.....bacon, hashbrowns and eggs the first day....sausage, omelet and hasbrowns the second and so on and so on........4 different types of cereal....muffins, french toast, bagels, english muffins, raisin muffins.....toast, fruit with lots of choices of jam, peanut butter, cream cheese, 4 different types of juice, coffee, tea and the list goes on and on. NOTHING is spared for breakfast and its all kept hot and refilled constantly with a waitress at your convenience at all times to cater to your needs. Can't say enough about this hotel.............I will continue to stay at the Ramada for ALL my business trips and personal visits. The staff friendly, helpful and go out of their way to make your stay just perfect. Great prices and very affordable.....I would say its the best hotel I've stayed in for business EVER.

Thank you very much for your glowing review of our hotel. A suite like the one you stayed in is ideal for a few days away from home as you can cook whatever and whenever you like, and stay in bed late without feeling guilty about household chores that need doing. It sounds like you had no need to cook breakfast as you so kindly mention all of the choices that we offer in the morning. Because we wish to offer breakfast to our guests but are in the process of restructuring our restaurant and kitchen, we include this breakfast as a substitute for the real gourmet breakfasts which will be available in the restaurant when it opens. We try to keep as much variety in our breakfast as is possible under the circumstances…no kitchen…and prefer to offer our guests a lot more than just a token muffin and coffee.

We thank you very much for giving us such good marks and would be very happy to have you come and visit us again.

Thank you for your very good review of the Ramada Victoria. The title of your review makes a good point in itself as you were here for a concert at the Save-On-Memorial Foods Centre. Our hotel is an excellent option if you don’t wish to stay downtown since the money you save on the hotel stay can be put toward very good concert tickets. We are close enough to the Memorial Centre and we are located on one of the main bus routes so either taxi or bus to and from the concert is a good way to go.

We have stayed at this hotel every time we come to Victoria mainly due to the reasonable price and decent location (with a car), but it is now needing refurbishing and looking shabby and dated. Also the internet did not work and the old style TV was barely working, the reception was so bad you could hardly see.
The room and bath were clean however and the bed and sheets were good, no trouble sleeping. Also the $62 +tax (November rate) included a generous do it yourself breakfast, since the dining room was closed due to a fire. While there were quite a few choices and the food was adequate the label "gourmet" (hotel description) certainly did not apply. Overall ok for the price.

We appreciate you taking the time to send in your review of the hotel. We are sorry to hear that you thought the hotel appearance wasn’t up to standard. We try very hard to keep everything clean and in good repair. The TV issue is being worked on and will be resolved this winter. I apologize alos if you were misled by the gourmet tag on our website to describe the breakfast, as this was meant for the restaurant menu. The restaurant is now under construction so we will be back to gourmet level before the winter is over. Thank you also for mentioning the price as we offer some of the best rates in Victoria.
