Thank you for your very good review of the Ramada Victoria. The title of your review makes a good point in itself as you were here for a concert at the Save-On-Memorial Foods Centre. Our hotel is an excellent option if you don’t wish to stay downtown since the money you save on the hotel stay can be put toward very good concert tickets. We are close enough to the Memorial Centre and we are located on one of the main bus routes so either taxi or bus to and from the concert is a good way to go.
We have stayed at this hotel every time we come to Victoria mainly due to the reasonable price and decent location (with a car), but it is now needing refurbishing and looking shabby and dated. Also the internet did not work and the old style TV was barely working, the reception was so bad you could hardly see.
The room and bath were clean however and the bed and sheets were good, no trouble sleeping. Also the $62 +tax (November rate) included a generous do it yourself breakfast, since the dining room was closed due to a fire. While there were quite a few choices and the food was adequate the label "gourmet" (hotel description) certainly did not apply. Overall ok for the price.
We appreciate you taking the time to send in your review of the hotel. We are sorry to hear that you thought the hotel appearance wasn’t up to standard. We try very hard to keep everything clean and in good repair. The TV issue is being worked on and will be resolved this winter. I apologize alos if you were misled by the gourmet tag on our website to describe the breakfast, as this was meant for the restaurant menu. The restaurant is now under construction so we will be back to gourmet level before the winter is over. Thank you also for mentioning the price as we offer some of the best rates in Victoria.
Good hotel for the money. Good location, clean, decent service. We reached the island by ferry, then pacific coach and walked a few blocks away. Would be good location to take your bikes too. Overall it's not 4 or 5 star hotel by any means, but very good in your on budget.
Thank you for giving the Ramada Victoria a good review. The hotel is convenient for those who don’t wish to stay in a 5 star hotel downtown yet is within easy reach of the center, either by bus, bicycle or on foot. The nearby Galloping Goose Trail is an excellent route to arrive downtown as if follows the Selkirk Waterway to the Inner Harbour. You are right that bikes are an excellent option as Victoria is very bicycle friendly, has bike stands everywhere, cycling lanes, and car drivers who generally show respect for those who choose this environmentally friendly means of transport.
