“Archival instead of Educational”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

Though there are a lot of great displays set up, I found myself rushing through this museum because there wasn't a story being told, just facts, and sometimes not even those, being relayed. Often something would be labeled as "grass cape" when anybody could see that. But who made the grass cape, how, why, who wore it, etc. They did have one or two videos that were playing on how they made things like rock tools which were also very interesting. A good educational overhaul would make it a fascinating museum.

Very up to date museum. Historical section very thorough and recreations exciting to see. Industries covered thoroughly and simply. Native history also very good. Could have more details about historical problems with reservations etc.

“Old building - great content”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

The building does not look much but the inside is full of unique artifacts from the coast. Next door to IMAX and there is a good cafe in the lobby. Bring good shoes and allocate lots of time as you keep finding new new sections to explore.

“First class displays”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

Really wonderful displays, wish we had time to see them all. Recreations of streets with shops, ship, mining site with sound effects brought history to life. We loved the totem poles. You can see some from outside the museum when it's closed or you don't want to pay admission.

“Worthy of earlier accolades”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the RBC Museum and found the displays and tableau to be first class being both informative as well as imaginative. The Race to the End of the Earth exhibition was also very rewarding. The visit took a couple of hours and is well worth being on top of any list when touring Victoria on a day visit from Vancouver. It is close to the Parliament buildings, the marina, the musical clock tower and the totem poles and Thunderbird Park. The only disappointment was the quality of the café, which was not very inspiring.
