“Excellent museum”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

Make sure you leave enough time to visit this superb museum. Three hours is not enough time....The photo gallery alone could take a 1/2 day. The dioramas are extremely well done as are most of the displays.

“I always visit on my Victoria trips.”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

My favorite floor is the third floor because it has a lot of nostalgia as to the way things were in the past. This past century of course!
It is easy to navigate and there are lots of employees to ask if you have a question or need directions.

“Wonderful First Nations' Arts & Crafts”
Reviewed April 1, 2013

This is a wonderful museum for learning about First nations Arts & Crafts. The displays and the totems were fabulous. They offered up stories and glimpses into BC's natural and human history, drawing us into the captivating story of the land. The natural history gallery sweeps you from lush tropical prehistoric forest past a woolly mammoth standing on the frozen steppes, to a present-day coastal rainforest bounded by rocky ocean shore. There was also a display and exhibition of bugs—bugs of all sorts and sizes. Outside the museum on Belleville Street is Thunderbird Park, created in 1941 to display some of the Northwest Coast's native arts. Most of the totems were carved between 1951-1990 (not antiques by any means, but copies of the originals—due their advanced decay.

“Since I was 5 years old.. this has been a place I have loved to go”
Reviewed March 31, 2013

I have gone with my grandparents since I was 5, then have taken my own children and my husband who was born in England. We've all loved it and each exhibition that has been there.. especially the artefacts from the Titanic and the experience of being a passenger on the ill fated ship... very touching..

“Love it, a great way to learn about BC History!”
Reviewed March 30, 2013

A fantastic museum, well designed and beautifully displayed, the exhibits are interesting, relevant, and teach you a lot about BC & West Coast Canadian history! I especially love the mining exhibit and the First Nations section. Leave yourself a couple hours to check it all out.
