“Wish we'd stayed longer”
Reviewed March 3, 2014

We stayed two nights in this beautiful B&B. We got a very warm welcome and Sue took her time to show us all the places to visit or eat at to make the best out of our short stay in Victoria. Our room was cosy, spacious and clean and we had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the beautiful view of the harbour with all the lights at night. Hope to stay there again.

This place is truly a 'home away from home'. Sue and Zen are warm and welcoming. Sue's gourmet breakfasts are delicious and beautifully presented. Lots of privacy and you may come and go as you please as you have a key for both your room and the front door. I stayed in the wonderful Kingfisher suite with a huge 2-person walk in shower and jetted tub. The bed is comfortable with great linens and the place is very quiet at night. The rooms are spacious enough to hang out in or you can sit on the closed-in deck and read. The room was immaculate and homey with lovely little touches. Sue is also very helpful with offering info on Victoria and it's easy to travel to downtown via the Johnson Street bridge. I am also recommending this to any family and friends that will be visiting Victoria.

This is a great B&B. Comfortable, clean rooms, great hosts, and amazing breakfasts. Just 2 mins walk is the ferry to town and its only 40 mins walk back around the harbour. Sue and Zen were very helpful with directions and restaurants. The breakfasts were quite different to what we are used to but that appears to be the norm in Canada. However, they were delicious.

As soon as we arrived at Across the Harbour we knew we had hit the jackpot. Zen & Rundle welcomed us and showed us to our room as Sue was busy welcoming other guests. The room was gorgeous, well set up (lounge area, bed and huge bathroom) and as a treat Sue's home-made ginger cookies - delicious! Sue then sat us down with a drink & a map of Victoria explaining how to get to the city on foot around the harbour with recommended stops on they way, by water taxi and other means as well as places of interest, attractions, recommended restaurants and bars and also let us know what was on in town (we were fortunate enough to be there for the busker festival). All great suggestions that we took onboard and definitely added to our stay in Victoria (one of our favourite stops on the holiday). Breakfasts were phenomenal and definitely gave us fuel for a full days sightseeing and as we learnt on the first morning best to have a small dinner the night before or a very long walk before breakfast. Zen kindly gave us a lift to the ferry terminal even though just about every street in Victoria was shut for a hot rod/vintage car show, but he kept trying until he could get us as close as possible. Being across the harbour and out of the city this B & B had beautiful views (which you enjoy at breakfast on the deck) and was a peaceful and quiet place to rest the head after a busy day.

Room Tip: We had the room upstairs at the front (road side of house) excellent room, plenty of space, comforta...

This B&B, is the best that I ever visited. The rooms are great and very clean. The couple who manage it are out of this world, there is not a thing that will not do for you. The breakfast is a 5 star plus quality. If you want to be treated like royalty at a great price, this the place to go. Great work Sue and Zen.

This year we decided to visit Victoria on Vancouver Island as part of our week long vacation with friends. We were very pleased with the hospitality of our hosts, Sue and Zen, and how they made us feel at home. They attended to our every need and gave us inside tips on restaurants, attractions and fun things to do. We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Across the Harbour B&B in Victoria.

Sue was a super nice hostess. Nice room. Great breakfast. Our room was adjacent to dining area. We spent a day hiking the Iron Mine Trail in East Sooke --- it leads down to an idyllic cove and rugged trails along the rocky coast.
