“Charming hosts and lovely B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 8, 2012

I booked this Inn primarily based on other tripadvisor reviews, and the great price compared w/ other hotels/inns in Victoria. I was really happy with the rooms, the food was delicious (and there's tons of it...you won't go hungry here). Sue and Zen are warm, charming, open hosts who make you feel right at home. There's no awkward conversation that maybe you might fear staying in a B&B. Sue gave us a wonderful overview of the area, a little history lesson, a ton of restaurant recommendations, and you basically feel like you have a "home" to come back to each day. I really liked my room - ground floor w/ a great spa tub, a really comfy bed, and fresh-made cookies in the room. My mom had a room with a sitting area, fireplace, and a king bed. The rooms are spacious, there's lots of good storage should you need it. I loved that you can walk from the back of the property to visit the floating homes, and you have a great view of the city of Victoria (as you are, in fact, across the Harbour from downtown Victoria). You can walk a seaside path all along from the Inn to the wharf/Inner Harbour. It's not a short walk, but nice and long, full of lovely people walking their dogs, jogging, and otherwise enjoying the beautiful surroundings. I would not stay any place else should I get a chance to return to this lovely island.

We stayed at Across the Harbour a week ago and absolutely loved it! Sue and Zen were wonderful and made us feel so at home. They gave us great suggestions on what to see in Victoria and where to eat dinners.

The breakfasts were absolutely delicious. Sue is a culinary artist! You have to sit down in the quaint sunroom each morning and see what she places in front of you to eat to truly appreciate her gift.

We stayed in the Orcas room. It was perfect. Clean, comfortable, quiet. Bathroom was wonderful with the skylight.

We also thoroughly enjoyed Rundel, their dog.

We recommend this B&B to everyone. Incredible value for the price. Sue and Zen helped make our trip memorable.

We were so excited about our trip to Victoria. What a wonderful place! And Across the Harbour was the perfect place for us to stay. Zen and Sue are wonderful hosts. They provided us with an abundance of information, maps, and suggestions on what to see and great places to eat that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. Our room was great and the breakfasts were truly something to get excited about! No doubt, if we are ever back in Victoria, we will be staying at Across the Harbour. Thank you, Zen and Sue, for a great experience!!

As most people have said a simply wonderful B&B, lovely location and warm and generous hosts - nothing was too much for them from the welcoming drink thru' recommending and arranging trips and restaurants to a delightful takeaway breakfast for our early departure. Can't imagine there is anywhere better to stay in Victoria.

The indoor/outdoor 2nd level breakfast sun room is incredible with food to match. The warm welcome from Sue & Zen make you feel like you're visiting the coolest relatives you wish you had. Their local tourist info really adds to your experience. The Blue Heron room was very comfortable & the view of the garden was a treat. The location is quiet yet close to everything - walk the West Bay Trail, take the water taxi or less than 10 minutes drive to the Inner Harbour.

Room Tip: Blue Heron Room, large room with jetted tub & fireplace, garden view. .

Not much we can add to previous reviews. Zen and Sue were excellent hosts, from the welcome beer/wine to the comfortable room and delicious breakfasts. It is a 2km walk to the city along a well lit path, so easy to eat in the city without driving.Would love to stay again.

My wife and I celebrated our 14th anniversary in Victoria and our stay at "Across the Harbor" was probably the highlight of our stay. We have never been pampered like we were by Sue and Zen! They both went way over the top to see to it that we enjoyed, not only our stay at the B&B, but also the City of Victoria and our visit to British Columbia.
Sue's breakfasts each morning were a treat for the senses! Beautiful and delicious, WOW! I sure hope she publishes that cookbook soon!
It is also nice to be on the far side of the harbor as you are farthest from all the traffic and business of the downtown and seaplane activity. The water taxi stop is just behind the B&B and is less than one minutes walk. So handy and a beautiful relaxing way to get to town.
When I return to Victoria, there is only one place to stay as far as I am concerned, providing Sue nd Zen are still the innkeepers, Across the Harbor Bed and Breakfast!

Room Tip: The Orca Room was very spacious and had a couch and chair in a sitting room. Upstairs has a little m...
