“B&B in Victoria that is a must!”

Across the Harbour was a real find … we loved it! Sue and Zen were the most gracious hosts we have ever experienced. Breakfasts were over the top beautiful and delicious. If you are looking for suggestions on places to eat, shop or visit Sue is the travel guide with maps and fliers. We took this adventure without a plan and our days just came together to see it all with Sue’s assistance. The location of the B&B is right on the harbor with a wonderful view from the upstairs outdoor dining room. You have breakfast there, can play cards or games, drink a cup of tea or wine or just relax and watch the boats. You can easily walk to town (about 40 minutes), take a water taxi ($20 pp) or drive. We had to catch an early ferry & flight and Sue was so kind she packed us to go breakfast for us to take. We will definitely be back as it was a very relaxing and fun vacation!

My wife and I spent a night here last week. We arrived in the evening and Sue received us and showed us around. We wanted to have a nice dinner in Victoria and Sue told us where the locals go and even made us a reservation and drove us downtown an hour before. The restaurant was excellent. We had a nice walk back (about 40 minutes along a charming waterfront walkway) and the room was very comfortable. The place is clean and very well kept up. Our bathroom looked new. The next day, we wanted to spend the day at Butchart Gardens. We had been promised a shuttle by the tour service but on the day they explained that the shuttle only went as far as the bridge. No problem though, Sue again drove us into town. She also drove into town that afternoon to meet us with our bags at the ferry terminal. We will stay with Sue and Zen the next time we're in Victoria.

We spent 4 great nights with Sue and Zen and would heartily recommend them. Across the Harbour is within walking distance of the centre of Victoria ( took us about 40 mins) and you get a great view of the harbour from their breakfast room.

If or when we get back to Victoria, we'll certainly stay there again.

Thanks, both

Mike & Chris J

My husband and I recently spent 3 romantic nights here, and we would have to say that Across The Harbour is the best bed and breakfast that we have ever stayed at. Zen and Sue treated us like part of their family. They went above and beyond pampering us with everything from booking our fabulous fishing trip, to their exquisite breakfasts, to their quaint extra special touches. We found their hospitality so family like that we even called them "mom and dad." The location was perfect, right in the middle of all the excitement at the harbour. There is even a nice romantic boardwalk around the harbour. The B & B was very clean as well. We will definitely recommend this B & B to all of our family and friends, and we will be back to visit again.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Across the Harbour. Sue and Zen are great hosts. The convenient location made it easy to see a variety of Victoria sites. Walking along the trail that begins beside the B&B and goes along the ocean to downtown Victoria was a perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon.

Room Tip: The Kingfisher Room is very romantic and has a two-person jet tub.

The last post said it all and I would ditto their remarks!
From beginning to end, my daughter and I had a wonderful experience at
Across the Harbour.
This was our second visit with Sue and Zen. Sue remarked to us that almost half of their business is from repeat visitors and I can certainly understand why. Sue and Zen are wonderful hosts ... friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming.
The breakfasts are yummy, generous and gorgeous to look at. Plus you get to eat them in a beautiful sunroom that overlooks West Bay marina. A great place to read, play games or have a cup of tea. The rooms are elegantly appointed, large, very clean and quiet. The beds are comfy too. My daughter loved the ginger cookies that were in our room and Sue kindly shared the recipe with us. Sue and Zen also provided great restaurant suggestions and sightseeing tips.
You will not be disappointed with your visit to Across the Harbour. Thanks Sue and Zen for a memorable time.

Despite having family to stay with in Victoria, our home here is always the Across the Harbour B&B.

Sue and Zen are incredibly friendly, accommodating to a fault and just so pleasant that we spend almost as much time in the B&B as we do visiting and exploring Victoria.

Located technically in Esquimalt, they are a 5-minute drive, 20-minute walk or 10-minute Harbour ferry ride from the Parliament buildings, the Empress and the heart of downtown Victoria. Municipal bus access is also possible.

The presmise has 4 rooms, each with its unique charm and advantage. We usually try for either of the two upstairs rooms just because of the massive common area enclosed deck that is a joy to sit in year round. The is always tea, coffee and bottled water on hand. Sue usually has some treats tucked away for a late night snack and fresh ginger cookies in the room. And zen will invite you in for a beer any time the Montreal Canadians are playing hockey.

While the dog Rundel can be intimidating, it is usually because he loves guests? So give him a good scratch behind the ear and gain a friend for life. For those who are worried, or dont like pets, he is kept well in check and away from the guest areas. Just let Sue or Zen know before check-in and she can put him on a leash in the backyard.

From the B&B you can take a quick ferry to downtown, the Fishermen Wharf or many other points of interest. Spinnakers Pub is about 10 minutes away by foot for great local brews, amazing dinning and a great place to relax in general. Or head to Goverment St area for many alternate dining choices.

Next door you can rent kayaks (a favorite of ours) and tour the Harbour at you own pace. Head to the open ocean if you have the training, or stick closer to shore and watch the float planes land. In the mud flats, you will always see ducks, herons and other water fowl.

There is a waterside walkway that meanders completely around the Harbour to downtown, nearby tennis courts, parks and the Galoping Goose trail for avid cyclists.

Right next door is CFB Esqimalt so don't be surprise to hear marching recruits spring and fall. Many interesting areas are available to the public to explore as well.

We can't recommend this location enough. It is quiet, romantic and friendly. Hope to meet you there!

It's always wonderful for us to have our guests return again and again. We are thrilled that you feel that this is your "home away from home" and its our extreme pleasure to be here to welcome you! Thanks so much! Zen, Sue & Rundle too...
