Loved this hotel! The staff were friendly, room was elegant and had all the amenities you'd need. We had a great sleep on the 7th floor, very quiet. I looked at the fitness room and it looked adequate for a workout, small but very modern. The continental breakfast was just okay. With so many great spots nearby I'd skip the breakfast and eat elsewhere. Lots of kids at the hotel which suprised me as I picked this hotel since we weren't bringing the kids! Overall I'd definately return and choose it over other hotels in victoria that we've stayed at.

The reviews were right on, and i was not disappointed! We traveled by Seattle Clipper, and it was about a 15 min walk from the port. Its a pleasant walk, so if you traveled light, I would suggest it over a taxi.

When we arrived, our room was not ready, so we were politely asked to come back. I guess we were originally assigned a lower, 2nd floor room, but since we were polite to the clerk, she gave us a corner room on the 5th floor. The room we had was very spacious, very bright, and very comfortable. Plenty of plugs for our gadgets (ie: laptop, ipod, cellphone, etc.) and housekeeping gave us a welcome gift of bottled waters, chocolates and fruit, which was very nice as well.

The only drawback of our room was it was facing some Club. Granted, the Club was at the end of the street, but on Saturday night, the Club cranked the music til 2 or 3 am. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room that is facing Government Street.

This place had a lot of freebies, which is very unusual for any hotel.... especialy a 4 star one! There was complimentary coffee and tea in the room (and the lobby), and free wifi in the room, and DSL cable (if your laptop isn't wifi ready). And, I do believe they accept pets, as a huge dog shared the elevator with me! :)

They had everything you'd expect for an upscale hotel: turn down service (with bedside chocolates), a great deep tub (and they provided a bath bomb soap too!), mending kit, vanity kit, shower cap, Aveda products.

Breakfast was very deluxe continental breakfast (ie: do you own waffles, scones, danish, cereal, meats, muffins, boiled egg, etc.). Some guests were trying to smuggle out muffins, and the staff were so friendly.. they OFFERED to saran wrap and put their food items in to-go boxes!

As a hotel guest, we got certain spa services at a discount. The Magnolia Spa was just ok. I thought they would have private lockers and showers, but its the disrobe in the massage room, and wear your street clothes when the treatment is done.

I have nothing negative to say, and would love to return! It was even nicer that I got a steal of a deal from hotwire. There's also no need to rent a car, unless you want to do the scenic drive. There's an express bus to Butchart Gardens, and you can also rent Vesnas/Mopeds for a few hours.

For the fitness people, they have an adequate work out room on the 2nd floor, with an infrared sauna. And they have a business center with a basic PC (Windows 7) but I did not see a printer.

The Magnolia is unquestionably one of Canada’s finest hotels, adjacent to Victoria’s Inner Harbour and within easy walking distance to many attractions, including shops, restaurants, galleries and so on, all on the hotel’s doorstep.

Anyone wishing to celebrate a special occasion, have a relaxing business trip, or just a simple get-away, this is the place to stay. Management and staff provide superb service and cater to guests’ every need, with no request too much trouble. The Hotel itself exudes charm and warmth, with little extras everywhere, leaving one wish they didn’t have to go home! With pleasure, we highly recommend the Magnolia, Victoria’s best kept secret, special thanks to superb management and staff!

Thank You Magnolia Hotel! We had a wonderful romantic trip. It was a delayed anniversary trip and we were able to escape to Victoria without the kids. We enjoyed the nicest room in the hotel - the corner suite on the 7th floor with views of the Parliament House and Empress Hotel. Hotel management had a bottle of champagne waiting for us (a nice surprise after a long ferry ride). The staff had wonderful recommendations and were extremely helpful and friendly. The beds were very comfy and the bathroom had a wonderful soaker tub. LOVE the Aveda products! Breakfast was a nice start to the day - very healthy with granola, yogurt and fruit (there were also cook your own waffles, bagels, pastries, hard boiled eggs). The workout room was a plus to have at the hotel. But we also enjoyed an early morning walk around the harbor for exercise. The location is one of the best and quiet (unlike the hotels by the ferry dock - very noisy with the seaplanes coming and going). We could walk everywhere. We never needed our car, except to golf. We will definitely stay again!

We had an opportunity to view the property during a previous visit to Victoria and were impressed by how enthusiastic and proud the staff were at presenting the Magnolia to us.
I booked in advance to get a great deal on the "Diamond Floor" and submitted a request for a Harbour view. We elected to fly in to Victoria via a Harbour plane and saw the property as we taxiied in. Check-in was great, the room request was honored and a sweet note (coupled with a treat to mark our anniversary) welcoming us to Victoria was in the room. The hotel is extremely well situated in Victoria, which made wandering by foot terrific. When I came back from a run, I was met by name with a bottle of water and asked about my run. Nice touch! The robes en suite are great and the bed was awesome. The housekeeping staff were charming. The bath bomb was a nice touch and toilettries were decent. Overall, we found the service levels equal to a recent luxury stay in San Fransisco.
On another note, (and maybe sounding totally fussy), I found the shower head was an inconsistent quality to the rest of the hotel (small / common hotel) and had a hard time yanking the shower head away from pointing at the shower door (meaning if you wanted to test the water temp before you got in to the shower, you soaked the floor. The finess area is...OK (small/cramped/difficult for stretching. Breakfast... good/standard fare). We didn't pay attention to the en suite dining in our room guide. It wasn't pushed or highlighted to us, but as we checked out, we were intrigued with the menu and the prices were not outlandish. This may be a missed opportunity for the Magnolia.
We definately would not hesitate booking Magnolia again.

Hotel is a little pricier than some in Vancouver but, well worth it. The rooms are larger than most hotel rooms. The linens on the bed are very nice. We were on the 7th floor and could see the parliament building and when it lit up at nice it was amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and made restaurant recommendations that were right on. We could not have been any happier!

The lobby is small but very nice, the rooms are excellent. The breakfast is nice, but very Holiday Inn Express or Hampton Inn style. Which is ok, but not up to the rest of this hotels opulence.

Very clean, maid service is wonderful.

When I return to Victoria I will stay at the Magnolia.

We paid for two nights with no extras....cost: 515.20 USD
