An ideal refuge during a 3 day business trip. My room, a suite, was newly refurbished, with a fireplace and lovely seating area. Bathroom great and spacious.
The food is fantastic! Best steak dinner I've had in a long time. The breakfast buffet made it easy to have a business meeting over breakfast, without long waits for food.
Having the spa onsite meant I could truly relax on the off hours with a hot stone massage. And shopping on Govt. St is one block away.
The staff was attentive without being obtrusive. I highly recommend this hotel.

We were looking for a quiet, reasonable place to stay in Victoria for a simple weekend decompression getaway. Wife found this place in the middle of town, walking distance to everywhere - so we didn't need to get a rental car - just a cab from the harbor.

Staff attentive, helpful and really wanted to make you feel at home. Got a package with dinner in the hotel - and have to tell you dinner was pretty good. But need to go there hungry. Unique dishes and we couldn't finish them. Breakfast, if included, was diverse, and plentiful.

Rooms quiet, housekeeping was attentive with fresh fruit and water every day.

And quiet.... Definitely will come back to this place...

Room Tip: Corner rooms are great, quiet and spacious. The doors are a bit thin, we noticed, so your next door...

The Magnolia is without a hidden gem in Victoria. I stay in a lot of hotel/resort properties and without question the Magnolia is the best value I've come across. If you're going to stay in Victoria, BC all other properties fall into the back up category. Spacious clean rooms, friendly staff, excellent location and a continental breakfast as well. David

Room Tip: Top two floors have a fireplace which may be of interest for those on a romantic adventure.

Stayed the weekend with my wife as an escape from the family! Service from everyone at the hotel was excellent. Front desk people always greeted us with a smile and offered to assist us. Breakfast is pretty standard continental breakfast. Room was clean and although near the elevator, something I really don't like, it was quiet. Bed was comfortable as well. Wife loved the Aveda products in the bathroom.

The Magnolia is the finest place to stay in Victoria. The Empress is grand and has history, but the Magnolia has the same old world charm, as good...if not better...service, and superior accommodations for a much more reasonable price. The rooms have even been completely redone and are better than ever. The hotel also includes a full free, exceptional breakfast, an attached spa, and a location as good as you can get in the heart of Victoria.
If you want a perfect stay in the city, take a close look at this hotel. You'll be more than pleased.

Lovely area, lovely city - hotel staff very attentive to our needs. This was a great base location from which to explore. Comfortable bedding, nice restaurant. Would stay here again if in Victoria! Was close to public transportation, made it easy to visit the gardens, etc. Walking distance to so many nice restaurants, stores, waterfront, etc.

My hubby and I just spent 1 night at the Magnolia Hotel & Spa in downtown Victoria, BC, and pretty much can't wait to go back. From start to finish, the staff gave us VIP treatment and never dropped the ball. It can be iffy finding the right hotel - I've paid higher prices only to be disappointed in the quality and service. Sometimes the "luxury hotels" tend to be a bit snobby and the attentiveness to the mid-range clientele just isn't there.

At Magnolia, from the moment we arrived, we were treated royally. We arrived early and they gladly arranged for our bags to be delivered to our rooms and the parking valet quickly took care of our car. The package we opted for came with a free bottle of wine - I asked if we could have this with our dinner, and it was waiting at our table when we showed up for our reservation. Other hotels might have refused this request, forcing you to purchase more wine with dinner.

Our meal at their steakhouse was cooked perfectly and also included in the deal. The $125 credit they provided for dinner was more than enough for appies, main course and drinks, and with our free bottle of wine, we were happy customers.

The room was extremely spacious (much nicer than the Empress), with a king-size bed (which I requested beforehand) and three floor-to-ceiling windows with a beautiful view of the parliament buildings.

The best part, the room faced a quiet side street with hardly any traffic and we had one of the best night's sleeps in a hotel we've ever had. Beware of downtown hotels on busy streets - all you hear at night are ambulances and buses.

The tub was separate from the roomy glassed in shower which was a great feature and the robes they supplied were super comfy. The 12 noon checkout was also a nice perk.

Also included was a continental breakfast buffet which was over and above what you usually get, featuring hot and cold dishes, fresh baking, fruit and even a smoothie.

After check out, we still wanted to go exploring downtown, so the staff happily stowed our bags and allowed us to continue to park until we returned later that afternoon.

From the friendly employees, the quality of service, meals and accommodations - the Magnolia Hotel was a class act all the way. Our only regret was that we only stayed one night.
