We are Victoria locals and stayed here over the weekend during our wedding celebration. We could not have asked for a better room and guest services was outstanding during our entire stay. Normally we prefer a more modern decor but the room was classicly decorated and very elegant - it was just right for a romantic weekend...The gas fireplace and soaker tub made the room cozy and romantic, the bed was very comfortable, and the room and hallways were beautiful and luxurious.
Guest services was so on the ball that when my husband went out with the ice bucket in search of the machine he was part way down the hall when he was greeted by guest services who sent him back to the room and then delivered the ice to us moments later!
The location was perfect for enjoying Victoria's downtown offerings, right in the middle of everything yet on a relatively quiet street so parking and accessing the hotel is not a hassle. The complimentary breakfast was great, we really enjoyed the smoothies and service at our table by the waiters despite it being a self serve buffet style breakfast.
We really felt that the staff went out of their way to be friendly, and very efficient at all times which elevated our experience and allowed us to truly enjoy being in a high end hotel to the fullest extent.

Best Hotel stay ever.Just go and notice all the little things that make it big,and the big things that matter most. Here I will make it simple:
lemonade,newspapers,piano,apples,flowers,chocolates,amenities

Quiet,Comfyluxury,smiles,yummy food

because of The Magnolia I am now a "Boutique Hotel" hunter.

Room Tip: Although we won a night's stay, book 30 days in advance for a fantastic rate and stay in a room...

Check-in was efficient and the rooms were lovely and comfortable with an electric fireplace. The breakfast included with our stay was not up to par for such a nice hotel. Other than that I would recommend it, good location, nicely appointed.

We stayed in Victoria for three nights while celebrating our anniversary. The location of this hotel could not be better. And it's very pretty. When we first got there, the girl at the front desk was not so nice. And when we got to our room, we had a queen bed when we had requested a king, more than two months in advance. But I know rooms cannot be guaranteed, but she should have mentioned this before we got to the room. She was also quite rude. When we got downstairs we asked about it and she said they were full. A very nice man was now at the desk and said we could get a king the next day, which was okay. By the time we got back from lunch the next day, we had been moved to the king room. We did love the room.Very comfortable bed and we thought the breakfast was very good for a free breakfast. I've read several complaints, but we had none. The waffles were cold, but we were told they could be ordered any time.
With the exception of that one desk girl, the staff was so nice.I would stay there again.
We did a whale watching tour with Eagle Wing, and it was excellent. Our biggest problem with travel to Vancouver and Victoria was how expensive everything is, especially wine. The cheapest glass of wine at a restaurant was 12 dollars, and that was a four ounce glass.

Just spent a week in Victoria, BC and stayed at the Magnolia. It was fantastic! The rooms were clean and well appointed. It's a small hotel and within walking distance of everything along the Inner Harbor. We considered staying at the Empress, but after seeing how large it is and the constant throng of people in and around it, I am sooooooo glad we chose the Magnolia instead! After being in constant crowds everywhere we went (along the walkways, in the museums, etc etc), it was nice to head back to the peace and QUIET of the hotel, and leave all the hubbub a block away. The continental breakfast didn't have much variety to it, but what they did have was good and the smoothies were wonderful. Everyone on staff was pleasant and helpful. Will DEFINITELY stay here again if we return to Victoria.

Our stay at the Magnolia couldn't have been better. Our room was on the 5th floor and had a view of the Parliament building which was spectacular when lighted up at night. The room was beautiful, spacious and well appointee. The bathroom was luxurious. The location of the hotel was perfect for walking to the harbor, around town, to the castle. We took our car up to Butchart Gardens and recommend driving south and east around the island along the coast. This was recommended by the very friendly and helpful staff at the front desk . They were always ready to offer assistance, make reservations, etc. A fabulous stay...

Room Tip: We had a corner room facing the Parliament building which was by far the best view.

Located just behind the Empress, the hotel has great beds, breakfast included. We also received tickets to Buchart Gardens as part of our package and parking was included. We were within walking distance to almost everything we wanted to see.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that faces the bay.
