“Good location & value”
Reviewed September 15, 2012

I had'nt stayed here for quite some time and upon staying was reminded of what I like about this hotel is the location and value. The inner harbour is my favorite location for staying in Victoria and this hotel is right in the thick of it.A harbourview room is fun and entertaining. The rooms are clean and spacious enough my room had a frdge, stove&microwave. The restaurant on site served a very good breakfast and thier is a pub on site as well that offers typical pub fare with daily food & drink specials.Other similiar hotels in the area are usually more expensive so I think there is good value.I would stay again

One think is for sure, when traveling to Victoria, BC, take lots of money! Victoria is very expensive and the hotels there are no exception. The Days Inn was a decent place to stay, room was comfortable, clean, but on the small side. We choose a room with a view of the harbor but found it to be noisy due to traffic and people partying along the water front. To be expected I guess.
This hotel is very centrally located and is situated across the street from the ferry terminal which runs between Victoria and Port Angeles, Washington. Easy walk to just about everything. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food in the hotel restaurant was average and over-priced for what you got. Not a surprise.
Our biggest complaint was the hotel was very expensive and not a very good value.

Room Tip: If you want a peaceful rest and good nights sleep, choose a room on the back side of the hotel, or b...

Thank you very much for your comments and we’re glad you liked our hotel and our downtown location – close to everything. For our noise sensitive guests we usually recommend our city view rooms, like you’d mentioned, rather than the harbourview. Thank you again for your comments, and staff compliments, and we’re sorry that you found Victoria so expensive - I hope you will choose to give us another opportunity in the future. Thank you again for taking the time to write.

I stayed here for 2 nights in May & the hotel was a lot better than I expected.
I had a corner room with views out over the harbour & was excellent value for money.
The room had everything I needed for the 2 nights I was there & was clean & well presented.
The location is great & walking distance to everywhere.
I would stay here again.

Read more bad than good reviews for Days Inn on Trip Advisor, but it was one of the cheaper options. Ideally situated for loads of things to do, our room looked out over the harbour. No AC, but a fan was provided which we didn't need even though daytime temps were in the mid 20s. We stayed 2 nights, comfortable, quiet, bathroom a bit small but perfectly functional, great shower. Free Wi-Fi along with 2 complementary bottles of water on arrival and after maid had been. Would definitely stay here again

This Inn is not even a 2.5/3 star as it is listed on many sites. Our room when we walked in, smelled horrible. Smelled like body odour and cigarette smoke, even though it was on a non smoking floor. The room was very dirty, with stains on the walls, looking like it had not been well vaccummed in years, disgustingly dirty screens in the windows (which is important in Victoria, with no A/C, you usually open the windows) and even dirtier fans provided in the room (again, an often used item with no A/C) We then discovered that the carpet by the door was very wet, perhaps from the unplugged mini fridge in the closet. The fridge also came with a half empty bottle of vodka in it. Its a great location, but has no views as it is only 3 stories high, and the dirt and disrepair of the rooms couldn't be overlooked. Even the television didn't work well, about 75% of the channels were very fuzzy, could probably get better reception with rabbit ears. We knew we weren't getting a luxury hotel here, but didn\t expect it to be that bad, especially at over $126/night. The staff were nice and free parking is nice, but not at the cost of staying in a disgusting room. Checked out after one night.

I selected Days Inn for a 3 night stay in Victoria knowing full well what I was getting into thanks to Trip Advisor's reviews. While the location was very convenient and the self parking at no additional cost was great, there were trade offs. Here's my list of them.
a) The corridors, carpeting, stairwells, elevators were tawdry and unappealing.
b) The TV set did not work.
c) There was no air conditioner, but it was a cool week and I knew in advance and decided to bear with no air conditioner to save money.
d) There was a step UP into the bathroom and I almost took a very bad fall.
e) The room was tacky at best.
f) The room was cramped, but serviceable.
On the other hand, the front desk staff was helpful, courteous and eager to please.
So, if you want to stay close to the harbor, within walking distance of the inner harbor front, Downtown and shopping and also have easy access to come and go on road trips in your car and save enough money to pay for a nice meal each day, then Days Inn will do the job.
As for us, I think for our next stay in Victoria, we will either pay more for a better hotel or stay in a B&B even if we are not right on the harbor.

- Apparently super 8 is related to days inn. So I was expecting even worse from days inn but it was way better than super 8

- surprised that the some cups were wrapped with paper that claimed that the cups were "sanitary". I took one out and I could feel that it was not clean and there was some dirty spots in it. I ran it under hot water just to be safe

- our keys/card to get into the room didn't work and then we got it fixed. The next day, it didn't work again

- washroom is not the nicest... But is better than super 8

- nice that you can cook but theres a sign that tells us to clean our dishes before we leave. However there is no dish detergent to wash so I question how clean the utensils and plates are... I assume that housekeeping does not clean them since it is expected that customers clean up after themselves

- there's some black spots on the beds.. Not sure what it is.

- ate at the restaurant downstairs, it was okay. Servers were good. The bar/lounge next door was extremely loud

- must open the windows... Or the room smells horrible... Dont know what the smell is

- parking is based on first come first serve basis, so if there's no more spots, you might have to pay to park on the streets

- close to the harbor, so you can walk there which is nice
