“Not the nicest, but I've seen worse”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

- Apparently super 8 is related to days inn. So I was expecting even worse from days inn but it was way better than super 8

- surprised that the some cups were wrapped with paper that claimed that the cups were "sanitary". I took one out and I could feel that it was not clean and there was some dirty spots in it. I ran it under hot water just to be safe

- our keys/card to get into the room didn't work and then we got it fixed. The next day, it didn't work again

- washroom is not the nicest... But is better than super 8

- nice that you can cook but theres a sign that tells us to clean our dishes before we leave. However there is no dish detergent to wash so I question how clean the utensils and plates are... I assume that housekeeping does not clean them since it is expected that customers clean up after themselves

- there's some black spots on the beds.. Not sure what it is.

- ate at the restaurant downstairs, it was okay. Servers were good. The bar/lounge next door was extremely loud

- must open the windows... Or the room smells horrible... Dont know what the smell is

- parking is based on first come first serve basis, so if there's no more spots, you might have to pay to park on the streets

- close to the harbor, so you can walk there which is nice

It is said that the most important thing about a hotel is location, location, location but I have to say that that did not save this hotel in my eyes. Yes this hotel is right on the water and only a 2 or 3 block walk to the sights of Victoria however for the price we paid I would have expected more from this outdated hotel.
Let’s start with the room. While the room did have a view of the harbor, none of the rooms had air-conditioning so because it was so hot out we had to have a stand up fan in our room that did little but push hot air around. Our room was right above the bar so we got to hear Musical Bingo until after 10:00 followed by loud music. The walls were so paper thin in this hotel that you can hear your neighbors talk, watch tv, and use the restroom as clearly as if you are in the same room. It did not make for a nice night’s sleep. The hotel is also quite outdated and the sheets were like sleeping on sandpaper. The bathroom was also a quite small.
I will say that the staff was friendly and helpful during our stay but you cannot fix a hotel that is so lacking with staff along. This hotel would do well to invest in some renovations and upgrades.
We ended up having a change of plans and checked out after one night of our scheduled two. I would recommend that for a few extra dollars you stay somewhere else on the waterfront.

What a beautiful harbor. We were booking our trip on the fly as we traveled and were trying to get into the Best Western. They were full, so they referred us to the Days Inn. Compared to the other hotels around the harbor, it was very reasonable. It is located immediately across the street from where the ferry docks. The staff was very helpful. The rooms are small, but clean with a nice HD tv. There is no refrigerator in the room. The first night here we stayed on the back side of the hotel and it was very quiet. The harbor side of the hotel has a restaurant on the first level with an outdoor terrace. We had one of the best breakfasts of our trip here. We enjoyed Victoria so much we decided to stay another night and move to the harbor side for the view. It was nice, but there's no balcony for your room, you have to just open the window. The harbor side is much noisier due to the activity on the streets surrounding the harbor. It was relaxing to watch all the activity around the harbor. One night a week, there is a music bingo game played in the bar/restaurant downstairs which sounded like a lot of fun (we missed most of it because we were out around the town).

This is a very nice reasonably price clean hotel with everything you need, right on the harbor. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to pay $250+ per night.

We have stayed here several times on last-minute family trips to Victoria with our Airedale. Great rates, convenient location, good + hearty breakfasts in the restaurant, helpful + friendly staff and wonderful views! A very accommodating place although it needs a spruce-up; kind of tired, however then the rates would likely change......

We had spend one night at the fanciest hotels in victoria. But after the first night we checked out.
I was sure there had to be something better out there for the amount of money the first hotel was charging. So, my husband and i packed up and went for a walk from hotel to hotel.
Then we came to this three story walk up. Sold we felt rightt a home a normal hotel, nothing fancy but way more comfortable. We had our father and mother with us and they also loved it.
The onsite resterant had excellent food and great service!

Room Tip: Corner rooms have amazing views of the harbor

The Days Inn staff were very polite and pleasant. While the hotel was very affordable and in a prime location, it desperately needs a remodel. Peeling wallpaper, boards covering pipes in the washroom, and a lack of things we needed (like a mini fridge, counter space in the washroom, and a/c) made us wish we stayed elsewere. The windows were strong, high quality - but then we realized why; Days Inn is directly across the street from the sea planes that take-off in the morning, and the international ferry which loads at all hours. With no a/c, we had to keep the windows open - but we were then awakened by all of the noise across the street. Directly below us was the hotel bar - karokee night was loud and the sounds of drinking singers carried up, not out.

Room Tip: If it is a view you want, the harbor side is great - but be prepared to hear the ferry loading each...

Thank you very much for your comments and we’re glad you liked the downtown location – it is something we are known for. For our noise sensitive guests we usually recommend our city view rooms rather than the harbourview however. We also do have kitchenettes available for guests that are looking for extended amenities, and some rooms have larger counter space as well, unfortunately no a/c but we do supply fans for those extra warm days. Thank you again for your comments and we hope you will choose to give us an opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Excellent value for a hotel with harbour views. There are some negatives, the rooms aren't huge and there aren't any balconies, just window views of the harbour. But, for the money it is great value. The front desk was very helpful in recommending restaurants that weren't your typical tourist fare.
