“Victorian Heaven”

This being our third stay at the Humboldt House, I can confidently say I am a true lover of this B&B. With a gorgeous chandelier by the bed, a heavenly white canopy bed, and a warm glowing bedside fireplace; we were assured privacy, romance, and peace.

Plus, it's nestled close to the Victorian waterfront, and secluded enough to avoid traffic.

I've stayed at a dozen B&Bs and the Humboldt is the most romantic!

Our entire stay at Humboldt B&B was a sheer joy. The rooms were beautiful and impeccably furnished in the Victorian tradition. Gourmet breakfast is the norm there. Served with a smile and piping hot at our requested time.

The staff are all very friendly and willing to assist you in whatever you might need. David made us reservations for dinner, shows, cabs and etc. When our taxi was late picking us up for our dinner reservation he was ready to take us there himself.

A fire is always laid in the fireplace and the lower patio is a quiet place to have a cup of coffee or a cold drink after a long day of shopping and sightseeing.

It is located a short 3 blocks from downtown Victoria but retains the feel of being far removed from the busyness and noise of the downtown area. The walk through St. Anne's pastoral grounds are a sheer joy. Lots of grassy areas, flowers and even an old apple orchard to wander through and it's right next door to Humboldt House.

On your arrival you will find the cozy library area ready to receive you with a decanter of sherry and a plate of homemade goodies.

What a wonderful place to truly rest while you are travelilng.

Kudos to David and his staff for a job well done in making us feel welcome and most of all...at home.

We found Humboldt House online while looking for a romantic place to stay for a quick weekend getaway to Victoria. After checking out the website and reviews here and other places, we decided to give it a try. We weren't disappointed. Our room was just as it had appeared from the pictures--very clean and comfortable with a great two-person spa tub. There were even little extras like bathrobes, hairdryer, truffles and mini fridge with bottled water and champagne (sparkling grape juice for us with host David accommodating our request for a non-alcoholic drink).

A delicious breakfast was delivered each morning to our room through a two-way pantry cupboard. We were able to select from a menu of four choices the night before as well as request a time for service. During our stay we had the eggs benedict, vanilla and berry crepes and west coast seafood crepes. All were delicious and served with fresh croissants, orange juice and fruit plate. We really enjoyed being able to dine in our room rather than join a group in a common dining room.

We stayed two nights, and while we were out for the day they freshened up our room with fresh towels, etc. The front parlor had local restaurant menus, guide books and always some kind of treat in the evening--we enjoyed the chocolate chip cookies.

Host David was very helpful, recommending local restaurants, sites and activities, and offering to make reservations for whatever we might need. Ten days after our stay I realized I was missing an article of clothing. I contacted David to see if I had inadvertently left it behind. They had found it and very graciously returned it to me by mail.

I've already recommended Humboldt House to several friends and would feel comfortable recommending it to anyone. It lived up to all our expectations, and we hope to return sometime in the not too distant future.

What a great place! For our first stay at a B&B, Humboldt House has set the bar high! The location was close to walk to the Inner Harbor, but far enough away to escape from its hustle and bustle. The 2-person bath made for a romantic place to come "home" to relax our feet afterwards. After a fantastic, in-room breakfast, I had to wonder if David the Innkeeper/chef could become our personal chef?

We only stayed a night, but will return again for sure. The breakfast
was excellent and so fun that it came through a secret door. The bed and bedding were heavenly, the best sleep I've had in years. We'll be
back!

We had a wonderful 2 night stay in Victoria. Although we had a car, the Inn is located walking distance from the inner harbor at Victoria, and also within walking distance of most of downtown Victoria (museums, fisherman's wharf, restaurants, clubs, etc.). The staff was courteous and most helpful, finding a wonderful place for us to board our two little dogs during our visit. Food was great! The bed comfortable! The room charming! Don't miss a chance to stay here....and if they are full when you call, it is worth waiting for another time!
