“BC Whale Tours - top notch customer satisfaction !!”
Reviewed October 1, 2012

We want to share with you our amazing experience with BC Whale Tours.

We moved to Victoria the second weekend of September. We have two kids, age 2 ½ and 5. They both love whales and it was my son’s dream to see Orca’s in the wild.

We went out on the Sunday and had a fabulous time. The boat was modern and had heated seating inside as well as seats outside. They only book limited amounts of people so that you have a seat inside and outside that you can switch between.

The owner of the company was the Captain and he was very nice and informative.

It is amazing that the Captains of the different whale tour ships, although competitors, work as a team to make sure that everyone on the different tours gets to see the whales. They share information and work as a team.

When we first went up the coast we saw a Black Bear. We also saw lots of Sea Lions.

We also saw a humpback whale. Unfortunately, that day there were no Orca’s around.

As BC Whale Tours guarantees that you will see Orca’s, they stamped our tickets, which allowed us to return another day to go on the tour again for free.

We just went on the tour again yesterday, and we say so many Orca’s. The Captain really made it special for us as he just stopped the boat, making it seem like we were waiting for Orca’s, however, he knew one was just there and almost right away the Orca jumped out of the water, to all of our surprise and amazement.

BC Whale Tours goes above and beyond. They really want you to connect with the ocean and the whales and have a wonderful time. There are other tours available, but a lot of the other boats are just uncovered (so you will be cold and wet) or they are covered but they pack in as many people as they can.

“Going the extra mile...”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

....in fact the owner took us 70 extra miles to find the orcas when all the other tour operators had turned back (given in!). BC Whale Tours were the only ones to see orcas that day as a result.

Very comfortable boat with indoor and outdoor seating, no more than 12 people on a 30 seat boat.

Huge thanks for a brilliant day.

To tripadvisor readers - try this company first before any other!

“Best Option in Victoria”
Reviewed September 21, 2012

There are other operators & boats out there, but we really believe for the best personal experience, the BC Luna, a 12 passenger vessel with 12 seats inside and out, provides the best value.
We priced all the options and when we were actually on the water with the other vendors around we felt sure the extra $19 was worth it. Many are "cattle boats" where movement is very restricted. That's about a $95 trip. Or it could be an open water Zodiac, brrr. $120 and you have a quality experience.
Mike was very knowledgeable, after eight years in this area. He's going again down to work Antartic waters in the winter. We felt truly blessed to have seen the remarkable creatures of the sea we were brought in contact with. It was a wonderful day with water like glass. We saw about 23 Transients in a pod, they surfed behind a freighter, Just WOW.

“Whale Watching”
Reviewed September 8, 2012

We had a great whale watching experience with BC Whale Tours and our guide Gordon, who has a great understanding of how to follow the path of the transient Orcas. We followed the Orcas well past the Sooke Bluffs then turned around and came back to Race Rocks where the Sea Lions were being very loud and aggressive to one another. We were also treated to a magnificent display of two young orcas chasing and catching a seal pup on the east side of William Head. We were well off shore with the engines off when the two Orcas swam right under our tour boat with the seal in the mouth of one of the Orcas. The seal at this point seemed to be still alive. It was something that you normally only see on the nature programs, but we actually saw it first hand. It was unreal to watch!!!! Loved every moment.

“Excellent choice for a photographer”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

I'm glad I chose BC Whale Tours. I was on the BC Luna, and it was good having the option between being in an enclosed cabin, yet still having the ability to go outside on the stern or aft. Had a friendly, knowledgeable tour guide. We cruised out to the lighthouse and prison island, saw sealions and a couple of bald eagles (one with a fish), before we went out into the strait and found a pod of humpback whales. As a keen wildlife photographer with a camera backpack, it was great being able to leave the bag in the cabin and not worry about the conditions - it would have been quite different being in one of the zodiac-style boats and exposed to the elements and spray!
