This is a nice hotel and it's very affordable. If you are coming over on the ferry be sure to check the brochures as there is a coupon which gets you a standard room for only 59.99.
Very nice , clean rooms. Bed was pretty good and the pillows were amazingly soft and comfy !!! Haven't slept that well in a long while !!!! The pool was a nice size and clean. We were even checked in early which was great. The staff were friendly and helpful with directions etc.
Sometimes people give such different reviews that it makes it a little difficult to select a hotel. I am very picky about where I stay so I can honestly tell you that you will be pleased with all aspects of this hotel. ( I didn't try the restaurant though) . THe Old Spaghetti Factory is a short walk away and worth every step !!

Room Tip: Our room was on the street side and wehad no problems with noise and we were there Friday and Saturd...

Thank you for your review of the Quality Inn Downtown Victoria. Our staff always like to see when a guest is happy with their stay.

Some of our staff has been with us for up to 37 years which is a testament to their hospitality professionalism and local and Island knowledge.

But I will have to give the credit to our new beds and the four pillows on it for one of your best sleeps in a long time.

Please come back and visit us again the next time you are in Victoria and thank you for the kind words once again.

If you want a good hotel for a good price with a great location in Victoria, then this is your best bet. If you are just sleeping for the night and have a fan (hotel supplies fans) for white noise, you will be satisfied. If you mind street noise starting early and going on till well after Midnight, ask for an inside courtyard room. Rooms do not have air conditioning so if it`s hot, it stays hot! Hallway noise and noise from adjoining rooms is prevelent (again, make sure you have a fan for white noise). Beds are comfy, old 27`TV`s have plenty to watch, shower works well. Location is key - located kitty corner from the Royal Theatre, just two blocks to the Empress and Inner Harbour, easy access to all that downtown Victoria has to offer. Staff is attentive and eager to please. Hotel is average across the board but if all you want is a clean, centrally located room, at a very good price, this is your hotel!

Room Tip: Rooms on the street are noisy! Ask for a room facing into the coutyard. There is a bar on the lower...

Thank you for your review of the Quality Inn Downtown Victoria, I would like to take this opportunity to address some of your key comments as they are very important to us.

We do have central air conditioning that we do not run in the winter time as it is usually not necessary. As you pointed out each and every room has a fan to help circulate the air if you wish, right now we are in the process of looking into updating our existing AC setup, to improve the cooling comfort of the rooms and hope to have this in place for our upcoming summer season. Heat is adjustable in the rooms already via the in room thermostats.

It is true that there is a Pub at the lower south east corner of our hotel and if you have the window open it can get a little noisy more so on the weekend as they are a very popular local English pub.

With the updating of the air conditioning unit there will be less need to open the window in the room helping to prevent sound so easily travelling into the room over on that corner.

I hope we get the opportunity to host you again so that you can see the constant improvements we are undertaking from our new beds just recently to full room renovations which have been taking place for the past few years. Hopefully this has addressed all of the key comments that you mentioned and we once again have the pleasure of your company at our hotel.

Sincerely,

Jamie Lewis

One of the best things about this hotel is its location - the same distance from th harbour as the Marriott and only 4 minutes walk from the seafront Empress Hotel, yet at a fraction of the cost of both.
We had a huge room with a King size bed (note that all of these are on the corner of Blanshard and Courtney so they get traffic noise - quiter rooms overlook the rear). The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean with everything you could hope for - including fridge, iron, ironing board, 2 phones (with free local calls), multi-channel TV, the/coffee maker (with daily supplies). The room furnishings and decorations are somewhat 'tired' as you might expect in a budget hotel, and the bathroom has quite an old feel; but none of this detracted from our enjoyment. Indeed the price we paid in omparison to others we checked out was exceptionally good, especially since we qualified for their generously-aged Seniors rate.
The hotel has a small swimming pool and steam room, surprising for a budget hotel, as well as laundry, and free tea and coffee in reception.
Breakfast is served on tne ground floor in the Green Room and was adequate and fairly priced
There is secure parking at $6 a day and the very friendly Glen let us in there early and arranged fir our room to be prepared ahead of check-in time when we arrived early.
With its location in the heart of downtown Victoria, just minutes from the harbour, this is a hotel for those who want a pleasant stay but who would rather keep their bucks for enjoying other things than posh furniture. We heartily recommend it and would have no hesitation in returning.

I told a co-worker I had found this hotel on the Internet for my close-to-home Christmas vacation, and she told me her family stays there every time they’re in Victoria. After being a guest at the Quality Inn myself for three nights, I’m making it my permanent choice for accommodation in the Capital City.

Although the hotel has an “up-Island” rate for Vancouver Island travelers, I discovered I qualify for the Choice Hotels Senior rate, which made the hotel even more affordable. The gated underground parking was great value at $6/night, and I liked the added feeling of security it gave me as a solo traveler. The hotel is 100% smoke-free, and the carpet and linens were completely scent-free, both of which are essential factors for travelers with sensitivities. I don’t have a cell phone, so the free local calls were an added benefit. And the new beds! Heavenly!

Being able to walk a block or two to the YMCA for a fitness class, the Empress Hotel for a guided tour, and Foo Food for delicious Asian street food made me a very happy camper. The trip was rounded out by a West Coast giggle on New Year’s Day, when the bells of the nearby BC Provincial Museum rang “I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas” as I ended my stroll along the very green Dallas Road oceanfront walkway.

Inevitably there are problems in any establishment that serves the public, but the measure of the place is how these problems are dealt with. There was excessive noise in the hotel on New Year’s Eve, which was handled to my complete satisfaction by the Hotel Manager. He understands hospitality to be the creation of the best possible relationship between guest and host, and responded in a solution-oriented way. Our conversation was a learning experience for both of us. I noticed later that on Trip Advisor, this Quality Inn takes the time to respond to guests’ concerns with the same constructive approach, and it was this practice that persuaded me to raise the hotel rating from Very Good to Excellent.

My wife spent some time in the Canadian Cancer Agency so it was hard to go back to old beautiful Victoria for a long time. We decided to put the bad behind us and go down Island for some sun and fun, we did and what a great time we had. On our trip down Island we even caught some whales waving just off shore. From horse and carriage rides to dim sum for lunch in old Chinatown to the Keg for dinner. The Canoe Pub is a must see too as it sits right on the ocean where all the kayakers paddle by and wave hello. Coming back home we stopped at the local farmer's market in Duncan and then enjoyed some wine tasting at the local vineyards. We will be going again very soon, the Quality Inn has a great Team. Such a great rekindling of our love for each other and our beloved old Victoria.

Room Tip: The views of the harbour are gorgeous but the opposite side is much quieter, all you have to hear is...

They offer Vancouver Island residents a special rate and we love the central location, we stay there to renew our passports, to visit family and friends and to check out the latest at the Royal BC Museum. Breakfast is great downstairs. If you like you can always go to Smitty's on Douglas.

The beds are comfy and the desk clerks are always friendly and gracious. Have stayed there numerous times.

Room Tip: choose to be away from the corner of blanshard and Courtenay streets.

We stayed for two nights and were very pleased with our choice. Location was close to downtown so we parked our car on arrival and didn't take it out until we left. The beds were outstandingly comfortable along with four great pillows on each of the two queen beds. The staff was friendly, from the front desk, restaurant, and especially the manager, Stuart, who dropped by when we were finishing our breakfast to see if everything was satisfactory. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who likes excellent value, comfortable beds, and a great staff!
