Victoria Regent Hotel

Victoria is blessed with many wonderful accommodation options that appeal top any type of traveler. One of those is clearly the Regent. The location is second to none - with amazing vistas of the inner harbor as well as being walkable to pretty much anywhere in the downtown. There are a number of different room options to choose from. I actually live in Victoria and spent a night there as a little escape with my wife. We loved everything about it. We also have attended functions in some of the suites and the service was excellent. The Regent is a gem among gems in Victoria!

Went for a golfing/fishing trip with the boys, was a business trip so didn't have to pay. But the hotel was perfect for what we needed, there were 4 queen beds and 2 baths in room with kitchenette and a balcony. Staff was accommodating and the breakfast that came with the room was pretty good too. The location was great as we were close to a lot of great places to eat and water taxi was easy access as well. The main use of room was to sleep and clean up, the beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet. We are thinking of going back as a family next time and this rrom would be great for our two teenagers.

We have stayed at many properties in Victoria however this property exceeded our expectations and we will stay here whenever we go back. We had the need for a 2 bedroom/2 bath property because of company and the unit was beautiful - right on the waterfront with a wrap around deck, dining table outside and sofas outside. The views were beautiful. The suite was very clean and inviting with 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, kitchen table for 5, 2 living rooms with sofa beds that pull out and a desk. I ended up working from the room while the others enjoyed the sights of Victoria and it was a very relaxing and inviting property to work from the desk that they provided. Very small breakfast room with continental breakfast items included in the room price however if ou wish a more substantial meal - there are many restaurants to visit nearby to the property. The views from this property are spectacular & we did not want to live - Plan on returning very soon!

I had high hopes for the Victoria Regent Hotel, but found the reality to be slightly disappointing. The hotel is well situated and perfectly fine, but I don't understand why it gets such rave reviews. My one-bedroom suite was certainly gigantic and a fully appointed one bedroom apartment (with living room and kitchen), but it smelled musty and was a little run-down in places (especially the bathroom). It had a little patio, but it wasn't overly appealing to sit out there. The breakfast room had a wonderful view of the harbour, but the food selection was somewhat limited.
In any event, I certainly wouldn't suggest avoiding this hotel, especially if you're looking for a place with a kitchen. But if this is one of the top 30 hotels in Canada (per Conde Nest), then that's a pretty said state of affairs for Canada Hotels.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay with us. I am sorry to hear that you found your stay "slightly disappointing" as most of our guests are very satisfied. This is the first time I have ever heard of the rooms smelling musty and, as we have been running very close to maximum occupancy for the last two months, every room has been occupied almost constantly and we have had no other reports of "musty" smells. Our housekeeping standards are very high so, if you would like to contact me with the room number you stayed in, I will personally inspect the room for any problems.

The Victoria Regent was built as a condominium and, as such, there is no commercial kitchen. We are somewhat limited as to what we can prepare for the comlimentary continental breakfast, but generally our guests are pleased with the results.

We are proud that we have been voted in the top 20 hotels in Canada by readers of Conde Nast Magazine every year for the last four years. I'm sorry that you feel that this honor reflects badly on the state of the hotel industry in this country.

We hope to have the opportunity of hosting you again should you return to Victoria.

We were not quite sure what to expect in Victoria as we added a visit on to our trip to Vancouver at the last minute. So grateful that we decided to visit!
We chose this hotel based on what other reviewers on Tripadvisor had said and we were not disappointed. On the contrary, the hotel exceeded our expectations. We had a suite of rooms on the 6th floor which were lovely and spacious, two comfortable en suite bedrooms, a nice lounge, a dining area and a kitchen. But what really made the hotel special were the quite stunning views that we had of the harbour. Sipping a chilled glass of wine on the balcony in the sunshine, watching the boats and seaplanes with the mountains in the distance. It simply could not be beaten.
Breakfast was continental and complimentary, and very nice too. For a very small fee you can have breakfast delivered to your room.
Aside from having great views the hotel is in a good position, within walking distance of all the places of interest, bars, cafes, bus station and seaplane terminal.
Maybe we were spoiled by the wonderful weather and the Busker Festival which was on when we visited (it was very entertaining) but we had such a wonderful time we didn't want to leave.
We are looking forward to our return!

Room Tip: Make sure you get a harbour facing room (there are some that face the street). It may cost more but...

We had a very good two night stay at this hotel. The room was spacious and clean. It was one of the nicest rooms we've ever stayed in. But we did have two problems with the service. First, the WiFi required a username and password, which was given to us at checkin—but the problem was that our devices would very often lose connection with the hotel's WiFi network—when we left the hotel or they went to sleep. So we would have to re-enter the username and password multiple times per day, per device—a real nuisance. I mentioned this to the front desk and the clerk shrugged it off, saying, "That sometimes happens." The second problem was the free breakfast. When we arrived, (well within the appointed time and there were lots of staff around) there was very little food. The oatmeal tray was empty, the white bread was gone. I had a couple of pieces of toast and then the waitress gave us a check saying that the breakfast was worth $17.00 and the gratuity was not included. On the way out we saw that the oatmeal tray was being refilled but by then it was too late. The second morning we skipped the hotel breakfast and went elsewhere.

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the Victoria Regent. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your accommodations.

With regard to the WiFi, it is not designed to retain the log in information for long periods of time or if there is inactivity. It is not like your house where your devices log on automatically as soon as you are within range of your router. This is for security reasons so that, once you are no longer a guest of the hotel, you cannot connect automatically.

I am sorry that the supplies on the buffet were somewhat depleted when you arrived. We try very hard to keep up with the demand and usually have 3 people staffing the 40 seat restaurant. The checks that are given to the guests to sign are a food cost control aid for us and the $17.00 value noted was for two persons.

We hope to have the opportunity to host you at the Regent in the future.

Beautiful views of the harbour, watch the planes come in, see the sea otters and enjoy the sunse. In walking distance to everything. Very comfy beds and the pillows are divine. Enjoy your own massage right in your room. You will not be disappointed!
