“Very relaxed time in Victoria”
Reviewed October 17, 2012

Great hotel. Central location is perfect for all the bars and restaurants. The view is great, right in the waterfront in Victoria's inner harbour, you can sit there enjoying the coming and goings of the seaplanes, ferries, boats and so many marine birds. The breakfast is good, small cafe overlooking the harbor. The city view room was nicely furnished, clean, but a little noisy, nothing to worry; beds and pillows very comfortable. For us it was perfect. The fantastic, helpful and easy to approach staff is really the most valuable gain. So good and nice to find in every person who works there a big smile and helping answers. We would certainly stay again at the Victoria Regent Hotel.

Our 2bedroom 2bath waterfront suite was recently refurbished and was quiet, fresh, clean and comfortable with a nice view. The hotel was in a central location with helpful staff. The thing that struck us first was that the whole suite was really spacious. The large bedrooms have king sized beds and shower/baths - we moved around easily despite 2 large suitcases and crib. We didn't use the full sized kitchen much but did use the free wifi and convenient laundry facilities on the floor. The hotel delivered bottles of water and ice each night with a weather forecast, which was a nice touch, and a local paper each morning. Parking was part of the room rate. The complimentary breakfast was good with lots of options - juice, tea, coffee, yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, bananas, 5 or so cereals or hot cereal (yummy, like porridge), bread, bagels, english muffins as well as sweet muffins. We got pizza from Formosa pizzeria around the corner, which we enjoyed in our suite and the service was quick. All in all, a good experience and we'd stay there again.

Room Tip: All 2 bedroom suites are in the centre of the building so you don't get views over the nicely-li...

I took a chance and stayed at this hotel with very little prior information. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the room, giant! The kitchen was totally stocked, bed very comfortable and overall a quiet hotel. The breakfast which is included is plentiful, try the breakfast bars! The breakfast is in a small cafe overlooking the harbor and the view is priceless. Right downtown so walking is simple, parking and free wi fi, can't beat it! Service was great as well.

Room Tip: Ask for a good view.

The staff at this hotel were very friendly, helpful and easy to approach. My check in and check out was fast and efficient. The staff opened the continenial breakfast early so those running could eat before the event. The breakfast had healthy, fresh food with enough to appeal to everyone. The room was clean and nicely furnished.

Room Tip: Choose one facing the water to avoid the street noise when the bars let out around 1am to 2am. This...

Five friends enjoyed an executive suite recently at the Victoria Regent. The suite was spacious, very clean, and the view was amazing. Watching the seaplanes, seeing the harbor lit up at night, and beautiful sunsets added to our enjoyment. Everyone we encountered there was very friendly and helpful. If ever we are able to return to Victoria we would certainly stay at the Victoria Regent Hotel.

a few weeks ago, I had the priviledge of hosting an International Board of Directors meeting for NPA, The Worldwide Recruitment Network. We chose the Victoria Regent because of it's excellent location and it's ammenities. Typically, we choose large chain hotels around the world but for this meeting, we decided we wanted a more relaxed setting where we could do some "team building" with the board. We had the Regency Suite as well as several suites and guest rooms to accomodate our guests from Australia, USA, Canada, South Korea. All had an excellent time as they were able to enjoy the sights of Victoria when they weren't in the meeting.
Many our meals were prepared by ourselves (our choice!) and it proved to be not only economical but very well received. Instead of going to restaurants all the time, we were able to enjoy the Regency Suite for all it's worth. The huge balcony was a great "plus" for those who wanted some fresh air!
The staff at the Victoria Regent were some of the best I have ever experienced for this type of meeting. Typically, they do not cater to our type of group.. but they should!! Everything we requested ( tables being set up or taken away, extra chairs, flip charts, ice buckets, extra dishes etc etc. ) they came through. More importantly, they ANTICIPATED our needs. I am in the Executive Search business - not catering or hospitality... They "got it"!! Thanks to Earl Wilde, General Manager and his excellent team for making our meeting outstanding!

Room Tip: get a room facing the harbour, preferablly not on the north end of the building ( the side where the...

We arrived at the hotel and were pleased to find it had free secure parking under ground, which after paying up to $30 a night in some places was excellent. Upon arriving in our room it was immediately obvious that the rooms on the front of the hotel are noisy but being a city what did we expect. It was worrying to find ear plugs provided in the room. The first room (211) turned out to be so noisy at night from premises opposite that we didn't sleep. Also the air con unit standing in the room didn't work at all.
The coffee maker being in the bathroom was a little strange so we moved it into the main area for our stay.
In the morning we went to reception and they were extremely good and moved us to a room at the side of the hotel which didn't have a balcony but was much better set up and more importantly quiet enough to sleep for the rest of our stay.
Beds are comfortable although pillows are very strange and uncomfortable. The rooms are clean and they have a very strange "turn down service" which turns down your bed, draws the curtains and delivers ice and water to you at about 4pm so we returned to the room about 6 each day and immediately open the curtains . Totally unnecessary.

The breakfasts are complimentary and good choice but the number of flies in the breakfast room made me stick to things that were not left open. I can not understand why the flies were not dealt with as the windows had fly screens so its worrying where they came from.

The location of the hotel is good with plenty of bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms at the front of the hotel unless you will be out clubbing until the early hours...

Thanks for your comments regarding your recent stay. We do have various levels of rooms and rates are based on size and view. I am pleased that the staff were able to switch you to a room that better suited your needs. I must apologize for the insects in the restaurant. They are not common house flies but a species that is drawn by the flowers and gardens that surround the hotel. Unfortunately, the screens that cover the sliding patio doors were in the process of being replaced at the time of your stay and they arein place now.

If you find yourself in a position to return to Victoria, please feel free to contact me directly and I will ensure your stay is a comfortable one.
