Victoria Regent Hotel

We decided to stay at Regent because our regular hotle was closed for renovations. We were upgrade to a one bedroom suite that had a fine view of Victoria Harbour. The hotel is within easy walking distance of several excellent rsturants and good shopping. We accidentally left some clothes behind in the room and the staff was very kindly recovered the stuff and mailed it to us. With the Complimentary breakfast and free, secure parking, the Regent is a real value.

I was here for 5 nights while in town on business. The location is great - right on the waterfront and within walking distance to everything. The room was clean, fairly modern, with a cozy bed and a deck that had a partial view of the bay. Parking was free in the underground parkade. Breakfast was good with a very friendly and helpful server who was eager to find me extra brown sugar on request. The housekeeping staff were very friendly too and happily supplied me with rags every day to clean the mud off my shoes.

My only comment on the parkade is the signage is lacking on how to exit. It took me a few minutes of driving around to figure it out. The exit door itself is a small overhead door with a small sign on it, but finding it is a bit obscure.

If you are looking for a clean, comfortable place to stay in Victoria consider this hotel.

This suite hotel in downtown Victoria has large comfortable suites with living room- dining room , bathroom, bedroom and separate kitchens. Underground parking is free as is a simple breakfast - breads, fruits, porridge, coffee etc. Most suites have a harbour view.
I have stayed here many times and never been disappointed. The beds are superbly comfortable! and the price is very reasonable.

Room Tip: Ask for harbour view or partial harbour view.

This is a condo property that offers rentals through an on site hotel operation. It was originally built right at the edge of the water in the 1980's which means HUGE units. Calling it a hotel is really a misnomer. Its very well appointed having been refurbished for the 'hotel' operation a few years ago. We have stayed in 3 different apartments, a one bedroom suite with about 800 square feet, a two bedroom suite about 1100 square feet and a 6th floor deluxe 2 bedroom of about 2000 square feet. Situated right on the waterfront all units have great views but the last one has wrap around 310 degrees of the most spectacular views of the beautiful harbor. Watching ships and giant ferries sail in and out and sea planes coming and going is better than TV. A nice restaurant on site provides free continental breakfast. The fully equipped kitchens have all the pans and dishes to cook for 6. Free parking and a friendly helpful staff make this a world class property. You can pay similar prices elsewhere and get a room or for just a little more a full size condo here.

Room Tip: Ask for higher floors for a better view

My wife and I took two grandkids (girls 10 and 12) to Victoria for one night, two days. I made reservations through Hotels.com. The location was perfect - everyplace we wanted to visit (except Butchart Gardens) was within a very walkable distance of this hotel. Our unit had a full kitchen, living room (with hide-a-way bed) and bedroom - the layout was perfect for us. A restaurant across the street (I think called the Sauce) provides "room service" and their dinner was excellent. There was no charge for parking in the hotel parking garage. The "continental breakfast" is the nicest ones we've ever experienced with very energetic and welcoming servers. "I'd stay again".

This property was a bit of a let down. I usually use the Coast in Victoria, which is currently closed for major renovations and on a government budget, I realize I won't get the prime room, so this isn't about the lack of a view in cheap room. indeed the room had a view to the water, it's just that the giant TV and furniture blocked the window, making it hard to see the view. OK, it was January, and it was mostly dark, but still what an odd arrangement, and unfortunate for a hotel with such a prime location on the waterfront, downtown.

The hotel has a bit of tired ambiance. The main entry and lobby seems a bit dim, and past it's prime, when you arrive at night. The appointments seem to have at least a couple of decades on them.

Access to the parking requires use of an intercom to contact the clerk, who opens the gate remotely, allowing you to drive in. The light levels in the parkade are low with bare concrete everywhere. Modern and updated parking facilities have painted white walls for more light. The fact that a construction project appeared to be ongoing near to where I parked and the Security gate on the waterfront side was open combined with a lack of light, didn't provide the optimal feeling of security.

There is an excellent television with high def channels in the room. Service at the desk was fine, and a comfortable bed was the best feature. Everything considered you can get a more up to date hotel for the same price.

This was our second visit to the Regent, the room was not a room per se, but rather a well appointed two bedroom condominium directly on the Victoria Harbour waterfront. We loved watching the float planes and ferries. The room was very comfortable and spacious and you are walking distance from the major sights and shopping. We all wish we could have stayed longer.
