My wife did some laundry about 10 PM on he first floor, and noticed that the back door to the Hotel was wide open. Next day we get a call from managment telling us our car was broken into. We were parked in the back lot. The rear passenger window was broken. The staff was helpful finding a repair place and budget rent a car.
but later refused to pay the $181 car rental bill. Some guy in the office said that if he reimbursed me they would have to do the same for everyone, does this mean break ins are a common occurence? He did offer 50% off for one night. However the back door to the rear parking lot remained open till at least 10:30 PM 2 of the 3 nights we were there, so we left. However, nice hotel, nice staff.

I was sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused by the break in to your car.

Break in's are not common in Victoria, but like any city in North America, they do occur. Vehicles parked in our lot, or any other parking facility in the city, are left at the owner's own risk.

We do have security staff on throughout the night. The exterior doors are normally locked at dusk each night. I will speak to our staff to ensure that this is being carried out, as it appears that it was not done on the nights during your stay. Locking the doors however, would unfortuntely, not have prevented a car from being broken into.

Perhaps your insurance company will provide reimbursement for your rental car costs.

If you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact me at 1-800-663-7515.

This three Star Hotel is five star in my view. One block from the Inner Harbor and a 5 min. walk to the Empress hotel! My sister stayed here for her honeymoon 4 yrs. ago and recommended it. I looked it up on tripadvisor and noticed it was 2006 Best place to stay in Victoria. My Sister(3) and I stayed in a one bedrm. suite with two tiwn beds and a sofabed(room #301) and a joining one bedrm room with 1 queen (#302) next to us kind of set up like a two bedrm apartment. The place sparkeled it was so clean! The hotel staff was attentive and knowledgable. Each room was inspected and approved by the head housekeeper. We had a big balcony overlooking the street. One afternoon we walked back to the hotel to be greeted by a man playing the bagpipes! He let us take pictures of him. The restaurant was pretty good, and prices were good. This is a good value and great place I will come here again.

We spent two nights at this property and it was a great location for exploring Victoria on foot (one block off the waterfront). We had a spacious 1-bdrm./1 bath, clean suite with kitchenette and dining area that accomodated 4 people well and had plenty of room for a rollaway twin bed. My family enjoyed the pool table and pool/workout room (though small and in basement). The on-site restaurant was booked by tours for breakfast, but there were many restaurants/coffee houses within walking distrance. Great hotel for families.

We loved the Royal Scot. It was great to have a kitchen, so we didn't have to go out for breakfast. The shuttle service was terrific. Best of all were the young men and women who worked there--always, cheerful, friendly, and helpful. The guys in kilts were cute, too! We will most definitely stay there again!

This hotel used to be good.

Now the building is fading, the service is down, & housekeeping is terrible.

There is no air-conditioning, and the carpeting is old & stained.
The area around the hotel is very noisy.

Kitchenette equipment barely acceptable.

Look elsewhere.

We stayed at the Royal Scot Suite Hotel as part of a COSMOS bus tour. Of all the hotels on the tour, this was the most outstanding of all. The room was spotless and large, and was located within walking distance of all attractions in downtown Victoria, including the harbour front and shopping on Government Street. We cannot say enough good things about the service, cleanliness and comfort of all parts of this hotel, and we would highly recommend it to anyone.

We booked this hotel following the ratings on Trip Advisor and I can only say that we were impressed with what we got. for the money. The suite had a great little kitchen, which was fully equiped and a useful dining area. The hotel is very close to the waterfront and all of the main attractions. In terms of service I can't fault it. We were picked up by the complimentary bus and were also told that we could call to be picked up from anywhere in Victoria. The hotel has a great little shop where you can buy your provisions for the kitchen. This is one of the few hotels that I've stayed in that I would unconditionally recommend.
