The location IS great and the hotel is clean. However, when reviewing other hotels in the area I'm not sure this is that best bang for your buck. The room/suite (called a deluxe guest room) was oddly laid out, two chairs in a long, narrow passage way. It appears that it had not been redecorated since the late 80's or early 90's. I wonder if we got a dumpier room for using a AAA membership discount...someone has to get the bottom room. Very poor lighting in the rooms, but the bed slept well.

The Royal Scot is located just around the corner from the Parliament Buildings in Victoria. The location is very convenient for walking to tourist attractions, but also located on a quiet street. The hotel is very well run. Our suite was roomy and had everything we needed. It was perfect for our family of four. Our teenagers enjoyed the indoor pool. Parking is also available, but costs extra.

We stayed there for 2 nights with our little one. The room was ok. Oddly shaped and pretty outdated but that didn't matter. The hotel is very clean, no complaints about that at all. The front desk staff wasn't really the friendliest. It seemed like they learned their spiel and ran it down every time a customer came. Maybe I am picky there because I have been working many years in the same industry, but a little bit more friendlyness and a smile wouldn't hurt. The ladies in housekeeping were super friendly though and always had a hello and would wish a nice day. The room was comfortable but the bed so squeeky that I was scared to turn around at night and waking up the baby. The location is perfect. We would come back.

Travelled from Vancouver to Victoria and stayed one night at Royal Scot then caught Clipper ferry to Seattle (2 min walk from ferry service). Great location - 5 minute walk from bus station. Also loved the hot tub.
Room was very nice - included large LCD TV, fridge and sofa.
Would recommend.

We only stayed one night - however I really liked this hotel and will definitely stay again. The location is great - steps to the downtown core.
But I got to truly appreciate the service only when I got back home. Apparently, my father forgot his favorite shirt in the room. We contacted the hotel, they found it and mailed it to us free of charge. That's how you know if someone is willing to go an extra mile.
Looking forward to my next stay there.

I booked this room, based on reviews and was glad I did... but not overwhelmed. Location was perfect coming in on Clipper from Seattle - one block up and half a block over (directly behind the only 5 start hotel in Victoria). Travelled with a 6 year old and a 9 year old and we were able to walk everywhere. Yes, the hotel is dated (think 80's brass and pastels) but a junior suite was more than adequate. I'm sure we could have stayed longer, quite comfortably. Balcony, small kitchen area, hide-a-bed and separate bedroom with ensuite bath. It wasn't some place I'd go on a luxurious romantic get-away for but location, family, adequate pool/hottub/saunce/weight room - plus separate billiards and games rooms, we never ran out of things to do. Best part though - front desk staff recommended 2 family friendly restaurants. Both were absolutely perfect: The Olde Spaghetti Factory and Nautical Nellies. Might have stumbled around without that recommendation. Thank you Royal Scot!

Great location with a decent sized room. Decor was outdated buy my mother liked it, kind of like staying at your grandmas house (funny smell and all). Overall the hotel was fine, the beds were ok, the room was quiet and spotlessly clean. If it wasn't for the staff we would probably stay there again. Not only were we given the wrong room (despite being assured by email that our desired room type was available) but they gave us the worst room in the place. The receptionist instead of being apologetic was surly. We had to actually get cross in order to get the room we booked even though it turned out there were several suitable rooms available. She wasn't the only one either the staff in general were patronizing and aloof (except the cleaning staff who were lovely, friendly and did a wonderful job).
