Recently stayed at the hotel. It is in a great location for sure, right behind the parliament buildings. Hotel is very clean, grounds are beautifully kept. Rooms are a bit dated and could use an upgrade. Very quiet though and an nice balcony to sit out on. Front desk staff were not very helpful when my car received front end damage exiting their parking lot. Stayed 2 nights and the maid forgot to give me new toiletries and a bath mat when she cleaned the room. The gift shop has bagels and sandwiches and a good source of snack foods. A nice 3 star hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony.

If you're looking for a little more room for you and your travel companions, try the Royal Scot suites. I traveled there for Canada day with a friend. The staff offers exceptional customer service, the rooms are refurbished and quiet, and it was great to have a full kitchen plus an indoor pool and hot tub!

Stayed here for three nights in July of 2014. We rented a suite consisting of a bedroom with two twin beds and a separate living room. The room we rented was on the ground floor.

Pros: Location--Even though there is no harbor view from this hotel, the Parliament building, harbor, Royal BC Museum are all within a five-minute walk. Many restaurants are within a similar radius. Front desk and shuttle service were very friendly, shuttle extremely convenient and typically available within 5-10 mins notice. The front desk recommended several good family-friendly restaurants in the vicinity. The hotel is dog friendly and allowed us to leave our dog behind in a crate when we went off whale-watching. Rooms were quite spacious and in our case equipped with a full kitchen (no dishwasher). Pool and hot tub are available.

Cons: Rooms are quite dated. The carpets, wallpapers, and kitchen areas all could do with a makeover. Free wireless internet access was available as it should be, but it was grotesquely slow. Often it was impossible to get any connection. No AC in the rooms, just fans. I was seriously unimpressed with the house cleaning personnel, dirty dishes were left for us to do multiple times, and it was difficult for us to have them clean the room when we were out as opposed to what time suited their schedule. Our enquiries along these lines met with rather indifferent responses. Free parking was available, but to maximize space the spots are very narrow. I felt the hotel was quite expensive.

Verdict: All-in-all an overpriced hotel in a good area that needs to upgrade their rooms and amenities. Kudos to the front desk and shuttle, we enjoyed their help and friendliness.

My husband recently spent three nights at the Royal Scot Hotel & Suites. Our room was excellent as was the service provided by the staff. An unexpected bonus was the availability of the hotel shuttle bus for trips into downtown Victoria. The room was very clean and bed comfortable. I highly recommend this accommodation.

We had a complicated 7 person multi room booking that was seamless due to the Royal Scot. They were adaptable and easy to work with. When we showed up they upgraded our suite and gave us free parking for a late arrival's car. The suites have all the cooking gear needed to throw a snack or meal together. Every question we had was handled professionally and even the housekeeping staff was top notch. We left a pair of shoes in our room and they had bagged and tagged them by room and date. I will stay here again!
