My wife and I spent 4 nights at the hotel towards the end of August 2013.
It's location is just a few minutes from main harbour area and all the central tourist attractions.
We had a suite room on the fourth floor and were pleased with it.
The staff were always pleasant and helpful to us, even at peak times.
Excellent laundry in the basement along with good swimming pool, games room etc.
There is a good shop on the ground floor were you can get all the basics food wise, some gifts etc.
We dined in the restaurant on three nights and enjoyed that too.
We had booked our room via Canadian Affair as part of larger holiday, the car parks charges were waived as it booked this way.
Previous reviews mentioned car park charges as a issue, you can find a cheaper car park further down the road if you don't mind your car being out of your view.
Another review mentions the place was like an old folks home which is a little unkind, there was a good cross section of ages at the hotel when we stayed.
It is not the newest of hotels and maybe some people have very high standards but for us it was very clean, comfortable and very good value for money.

Room Tip: We had a balcony suite on the fourth floor that we thought was very good.

We only stayed there one night as the part of a tour but I wish I could have stayed there longer.
The room was unbelievable almost as big as the lower floor of our house. It had a large bedroom, sitting area, bathroom, dining area and even a kitchen. It was perfectly positioned near the harbour and the downtown area. I can't comment on the food, service and amenities because we never had chance to try them.

We stayed at the Royal Scot for 2 nights on one leg of a road trip from Colorado to Victoria and back. We were upgraded to a suite upon arrival, which was extremely roomy (almost as big as our house), clean, very affordable for Victoria, and with all the amenities you could ask for (full kitchen, living room, dining room, bath, and bedroom). Parking was $15 extra per night. The hotel sits only a block from the harbor, the government building, and only a couple blocks more from the Empress, downtown, and all the bars and restaurants. Easy walk to most everything. The staff was friendly and courteous. The highlight of our stay was seeing Buchart Gardens, which was about 15 plus miles north. We had our car, but you can also take a tour bus or taxi if necessary. The restaurant (Jonathon's) at the hotel seemed nice, although we didn't go there. With the suite, it was just as easy to save a bit and eat breakfast in the room. Some groceries are available at the hotel gift shop, and there are grocery stores if you have transportation, or a 7-11 within walking distance in town. We didn't use the pool or spa, so can't comment on that, and I'm not sure if they had air conditioning, although we didn't need it.

Room Tip: We stayed on the first floor right inside and around the corner from the back parking lot in room 15...

The Royal Scot is one block from the ferry and an ideal position for the downtown area of Victoria BC. I've stayed here thre times now over a 10 year period and the RS has maintained it's very high standard of service, food and amenities. In the basement area there's a medium-sized pool, with sauna and whirlpool.....a large Laundry room...a big games room with huge TV, books and board games/jigsaws etc. and a Billiard Room. Oh yes, and a Guest Computer that enables you to print off too. The bedrooms can be either a suite with full kitchen, lounge and bedrooms (which I once stayed in years ago - ideal) or, this time, a Deluxe bedroom on the 3rd floor. $148 is £92 and I think this is an excellent price for a spacious room with a large closet (plus a safe, ironing board etc)...and there's a small utility area with a fridge, microwave etc. All this within 5' walk of downtown Victoria. I wouldn't stay anywhere else - perfect.

This was a nice hotel but an even better location! Walk to all the Victoria sites was 5 minutes. We never used our car. The rooms were a bit dated but very clean and big! we got an upgraded suite and it had a kitchen in it with a separate bedroom. There is no air conditioning in the hotel so that should be taken in consideration. We stayed there in September and the hotel provided fans for the room. The room was a little hot but not too bad. It reminded me of an Embassy suites. Room service prices were less than what we would pay at a restaurant and it was pretty decent. We had room service for breakfast most days. Overall the stay was pleasant but we would probably look for a more updated hotel in the future.

The hotel is situated in a quiet street just a short walk from the Inner Harbour and the main area of the town. Our room was on the 4th, top floor, and was clean tidy and a good size with the usual large bed, only down side was that it was very warm with no air con so you had to leave the double glazing pulled back which then meant you had an early awakening by the seagulls and the float planes, but by that time the room was cooler so you could close the glazing and all was quiet again.
Would recommend but perhaps not so good in the summer.

This hotel is within an easy 10 minute walk to all the downtown fun. But no worries, they also have a free shuttle service to get you to where you want to be or get you back if it's late and you think you've walked enough! That was a great service that other hotels in other cities should really look into. Our "driver" wouldn't even accept a tip when we offered.

The suite was large and comfortable and even had a full kitchen (minus a dishwasher) so if we wanted to stay in a cook we could. We were only here for two days so that wasn't important for us this time. The staff "upgraded" us to a king size bed with out asking. Personally, I like my wife, so sleeping in different area codes was a little strange, at first. ;)

We would stay here again if we get back to Victoria.

Room Tip: This hotel also has a pool and sauna and whirlpool and games room and all sorts ... so don't for...
