“Perfect for Victoria”
Reviewed February 10, 2014

My wife and my third visit of three or more days in the past year. We have always stayed, by choice in the older section which has always been fully satisfactory, large, clean, good bed(s), efficient heat/AC, well furnished, with great views.
Our reasons for being fully satisfied with our experience at the Inn at Laurel Point are as follows:
1. Staff: Without exception absolutely superior. They are efficient, always friendly taking the time to acknowledge and greet you, and have on a number of occasions gone well out of their way to provide helpful information and assistance. Their casual professionalism is always appreciated.
2. Location: Perfect for the Inner Harbour area of downtown Victoria. Very easy and direct drive to from the airport or ferries and just a short walk from the US ferries. An easy and safe day or night walk east to the Legislative buildings and all downtown activities, great pubs and restaurants and shopping. A short walk west on the sea-walk takes you to the uniqueness of Fisherman's Wharf / the Cruise Ship Terminal and a variety of activities, great restaurants and shopping. Kids will be delighted to see and feed the Harbour Seals always present at the Wharf.
3. Sleep Quality: The hotel is reasonably large, but even when full never seems crowded. There is no traffic noise to disturb you and we have never had any poor experience with hallway noise.
4. Parking: Yes you pay for it, but it is covered, secure and handy. If you are a tourist you will probably not be using your vehicle very much, because of the hotel location.

Wish List:
Although excellent coffee is available in the rooms we would appreciate having it available, fresh in the lobby area throughout the day and into the evening. Even if there was an honour system cost it would be well worth it.. We would further like to see a small lounge available throughout the evening hours so that one could have a drink and enjoy the view without having to go elsewhere.

The Inn at Laurel Point is our favourite hotel in Victoria and we shall continue to call it home when visiting.

Room Tip: We have always been fully satisfied with the older wing, although the Erickson wing is reported to h...

Dear Phillip P,

Thank you so much for your lovely review. As an independantly owned and operated Canadian Hotel, we really appreciate you taking the time to write such an eloquent and detailed review - it really helps get " the word out there" about our beautiful Inn.
I wanted to address the 2 items on you wish list:
You wanted a place to get coffee or tea throughout the day: Well, we have just that in our guest lounge, just off of the lobby. We call in the Live-Inn room and it is equiped with lovely leather loungers, a big TV for catching up on the daily news, sports or your favourite soap opera for that matter, daily newspapers and a complimentary Terrafacione Coffee and Tea bar, freshly topped up all day long! I am so sorry that you missed it!
As for you dropping in for a little night cap, we do have a sit up bar in our restaurant Aura with stellar views of the inner harbour and the downtown area. Itt's not a very big bar but it is quite comfy and cozy and George or Peter, our bartenders, are always up for making your favourite beverage!

So, thank you again for the great comments - hope you come back soon for another little Victoria getaway!!!

Sincerely,

~Judy~

Staff is outstanding, rooms are spacious, clean and have a view of the Inner Harbour, the hotel ponds and waterfall. This was my 3rd stay and each visit is as great as the last. Secure Parking for $15/night is great. The bthrm has both a bathtub and shower, double sinks and Aveda toiletries. Pets are welcome - size restriction - your pet will receive a welcome letter, fresh baked biscuits, a bed and bowls as well as a towel for any dirty feet. Room Service arrives promptly at the time you indicate, the server with a great good morning and smile on his face. Walking distance to downtown, restraunts, museum, IMAX and the Empress. Beacon Hill Park is not far off. The dining room is all ocean view, the food is good. Free Wi-Fi, pool and gym. What more could you ask for a get away in your own town or visiting our lovely city.

Room Tip: I always ask for a ground floor room in the # range 150's easy access to the paths etc. with a l...

I stayed at this property in February 2014 for one night. This hotel is one of a kind. Very clean and great location on the water front. The rooms are spacious and I would guess that almost every room has amazing views.
Free Wi-Fi, pool, gym you name it and they offer it. I specially loved the secure parking underground. The check-in was quick and easy. Staff are extremely polite and accommodating. I will definitely stay here again.

We were very pleased with the Inn at Laurel Point from the moment we walked into the lobby until we checked out. Every member of staff with whom we interacted was friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was clean comfortable, clean and had a great view over the water. Best of all it had a kettle for us tea drinkers. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. We only ate breakfast in the Aura restaurant so I can't comment on any other meals. It is an easy walk from the Inn to downtown Victoria for great shops and restaurants. We would go back again if we need to stay in Victoria again.

Dear Nigel A,

Thank you for selecting our lovely Inn for your quick little getaway. I am delighted that you enjoyed everything that we have to offer and especially glad to hear that you liked those fabulous Serta beds that we just installed in November. We are getting such great feedback from our guests - after all, one can never underestimate the value of a good night's sleep.
So glad you enjoyed your sejour and hope you will have an opportunity to return again!
Hint: Come in the springtime when our Japanese gardens come into full bloom - it is truly a spectacle to be seen.
All the best,

We had our ceremony in a glass walled atrium facing out onto Victoria Harbour, with a lovely Japanese garden in the background. The food at the reception was amazing and plentiful and our wedding cake was absolutely delicious! Right before the ceremony the zipper on my wedding dress broke and someone from the front desk, Curtis, I believe? ran back and forth getting us sewing kits and pins, and reporting to the groom what was going on. Our event manager, Jennifer, was very helpful and full of wonderful ideas to make our day special. Demitris was our banquet manager and ensured that things ran flawlessly the day of. Our suite was spectacular and perfect for cocktails before dinner at the amazing restarant, Aura. I cannot recommend this hotel enough!

Room Tip: The Terrace Suites are spectacular! But we had family members staying in other wings of the hotel a...

The Inn at Laurel Point offered a lovely winter weekend break. Staff are courteous and attentive. The rooms are beautiful and the view is on the Victoria Harbour. The Aura restaurant is wonderful, delicious food and great location. This hotel is in walking distance from the downtown Victoria shops and restaurants. If you don't want to shop the waterfront walk is very satisfying.
We had a great stay and would return in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: We upgraded from the special winter rate and were given a room overlooking the outer harbour. It was...

Dear Simongig!

All I have to say is .......do we not have the most beautiful winters in Canada! Lots of sunshine, crisp air, and a city that is so vibrant. Whether it be a walk around from brew pub to brew pub or a stroll around the harbour, there is a lot to do in the winter months and it's ever so peaceful.

so glad you enjoyed your getaway!

PS: The Cherry blossoms are starting to bud now. In about a month they should all be showing off their blossoms!! It's also a beautiful time to visit!

All the best and hope you come back again!

I was delighted by the stunning setting, excellent service by all staff, beautiful rooms. Art everywhere was very pleasing. You could tell the staff were happy and not just faking it. Aura restaurant and bar are delightful, don't miss using them. Don't miss visiting the Japanese Gardens even if it is raining. Room amenities are first class. I have stayed at a few of the near by hotels that were supposed to be of comparable quality, but nothing as nice as this hotel.

Room Tip: If you can afford it, splurge for the rooms in the newer wing. If you are on a budget the other roo...

Dear Sandybrooks,

Thank you for posting your lovely review. I am so pleased that you felt comfortable and inspired by our gorgeous rooms and happy staff and frankly, I agree with you, even in the rain, the Japanese gardens and pond lend a certain moodiness that is ever so inviting.

I do hope you will now make our Inn your home away from home while visiting Victoria. Perhaps you should consider signing up for our Loyalty Program, The Innsiders. You can accumulate points for every stay and redeem them for some very lovely little gifts along with other special Innsider treats. Just call out reservations department for details.

Thank you again for your super review and I hope you will have an opportunity to come back and visit again!
