First time in Victoria, so made arraingements through Clipper Vacations and they suggested this hotel. Hotel is located about 250yards from the ferry docks which was very convenient. Good view of inner harbor. Other reviewers had mentioned the noise from the seaplanes, but I did not notice it at all. Ate dinner at the hotel and the food was good, maybe a bit pricey but I tend to expect that at hotel restaurants. Staff was friendly and the concierge practically tripped over himself to see to our needs. I like to find out of the way places or those off the tourist path but the staff is more knowledgeable about the main tourist attractions.

This place deserves a 5+ if it were not for three oversights which surprised us. Our room, a King Suite in the Erickson Wing, was very large and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and we slept like babies. There was a nice sized, glassed in balcony with a fantastic, uninterrupted view of the inner harbor and, below, the hotel's Japanese garden. The marble bathroom was huge with enough counter space for anyone and a large soaker tub with separate glassed in shower. The outside wall of the room was glass floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Passing ferries, sea planes taking off & landing, yachts, fishing boats, tug boats and more provided daily entertainment. The staff was fantastic prior to our arrival and during our stay. All this and just a refreshing mile walk to the heart of downtown and a couple of blocks to fisherman's wharf which isn't what it sounds like but kind of fun anyway. Would definetely stay again.
So, why a 4?
*Emails prior to our arrival promised that the concierge would provide details of anything we wished to know and answer any questions we had. Two emails sent to the concierge desk before our trip are, to this day, still unanswered. We finally did get the information we were looking for from a knowledgeable, helpful reservations person.
*Secondly, although the inside of the hotel was very attractive, bright and clean the outside of the hotel was showing some signs of decay with paint peeling in spots particularly on our balcony. No big deal but surprising for a hotel so otherwise immaculate.
*Lastly the Aura restaurant is supposed to be a fairly upscale establishment yet the carpet, right at the entry, had large tears that had been poorly and obviously repaired giving the place an unkempt appearance leaving us to wonder what the cleanliness of the place might be. We did eat there enjoying super service and, when we had some calamari that was as tough as shoe leather, the manager was most apologetic quickly providing an alternative. The food was good but, for the price, the servings were TINY.

Room Tip: If staying for a few days spring for the extra cost of a suite in the Erickson Wing looking out over the inner harbor.

Dear rjredeemed,

Thank you for your “almost 5” score. We do have, what many think, is the most beautiful hotel in Victoria. Being on a peninsula surrounded by the ocean, and all within walking distance to the downtown core, is amazing for any city. The architecture is stunning thanks to the vision of world renowned Canadian architect, Arthur Erickson. Now, thanks to Mr. Erickson and his use of glass and the colour white, we find ourselves, in constant need of upkeep and maintenance. Being exposed to the ocean on all four sides takes Its’ toll on this structure – and it is a 365 day maintenance project just to keep up with the elements.
I am sorry that you found your balcony in need of touch ups but we do find that we have to interrupt our work from time to time to avoid disturbing our guests. We will resume out exterior maintenance, as we do every year, during our down times.
You also mentioned that the carpet at the entrance to our dining room AURA had large tears in it. These marks are not actual tears but are stretches caused by over shampooing, which sometimes happens. Of course, this too is on our list of things to take care of during our “down time” in January and February.

And to address your remarks about our on line concierge service; I have had an opportunity to talk to all concerned and due to a scheduling error, your messages did indeed get over looked and “slid through the cracks” I apologize – we will endevour to be better.
So thank you for your comments and I am so glad that, with the exception of these items, you will hopefully return one day and enjoy all of the beauty that is Victoria and our Inn.

Wishing you all of the warmth and wonder of the season

A dozen of us came here for a four day meeting. Staff was always friendly, going out of their way to greet us. The rooms were spacious, clean and felt luxurious, with a complimentary bathrobe and a gigantic bathtub (however, I was led to understand that not all rooms have such a bathtub)

The meeting space was adequate, the food provided was delicious, and the staff serving our meeting were prompt, polite and always eager to help.

The location is perfect, allowing us to walk to all the main attractions.

Overall, a great experience!

Room Tip: I've heard that the rooms in the Laurel wing are not as luxurious as the Erickson wing.

Dear geoallie,

Thank you for posting your glowing remarks.[blush blush] As an independant 100% locally owned hotel we are fortunate to not be guided by a big corporate head office philosophy on how to approach our guest services policies. Instead, we encourage our staff's personalities to shine through while still providing top notch service and ...shine they do! We have a cast of wonderful characters here at the Inn and I am so glad that you got to meet a few of them.

Wishing you the warmest wishes of the season.

We hadn't checked tripadvisor before booking as we decided on a Clipper ferry package at the last minute. We wanted to stay at the Fairmont but they were booked so the agent suggested this hotel in the Erickson wing where all rooms have a harbor view. We also booked the butchart garden tour and while we aren't normally bus tour group people we thoroughly enjoyed the 3.5 hour tour. ( 2 hours at the gardens, 45 min each way on the bus).

Anyway, after the tour they dropped us at the hotel and the room did not disappoint. The bathroom alone was worth it with a big soaker tub, huge glass shower and tons of marble with aveda products. Even the robes were off the charts!

The room is modern with lots of art and even the hallways have art in cases between the rooms. The view was spectacular. Room 262. We watched sea planes land and the ferris come in.

We went to the bar at aura for a drink and oysters. Excellent service and food. We then ordered dinner from room service and frankly it was best room service food we've ever had. Don't miss the risotto and the calamari! They even brought us a candle on request. Very romantic!

We were able to have a late check out and after a decent room service breakfast, we just didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: Stay in the Erickson wing for updated rooms and a harbor view.

We stayed at the Inn at Laurel Point for 2 nights; August 18th and 19th 2012. We had a very nice room in the Erickson Wing. Very spacious and quiet. The room overlooked the Inner Harbor, and we were able to see the numerous finishes of the ‘Dragon Boat’ races. We had breakfast 2 mornings in the dining room; service was excellent and the food delicious. The Inn is very close to downtown and easy to navigate. We would certainly stay here again when we are in Victoria. Check-in was delayed for a few hours - but the staff was very informative - we are flexible.
