The hotel has a good location close to the Inner Harbour, parliament building and the museum in a quiet area. There is only a short walk to downtown Victoria. Therefore, we hoped to find a decent hotel but were left disappointed.

The hotel itself was a major disappointment, it's old, worn-out and needs a serious update (I read somewhere that the renovation is coming in 2013, I do hope so). The staff at the reception desk were friendly but likely understuffed because the check-in and check-out were really slow and we had a lot of people waiting and shaking their heads over the slow service. We stayed the first night in a 4th floor suite and woke up in the middle of the night to an annoying loud noise. It turned out there was a huge air-conditioning unit on the roof just outside the bedroom window. It was running on-off all night and sleeping was next to impossible. Also, the shower was not functioning well at all as the shower head was very low.

Next morning, we requested a new room and the friendly but busy lady in the reception desk promised to arrange a new room, full points to her for great customer service! We checked a potential new room in the 3rd floor but it turned out to be like our previous room with noisy air conditioning units just outside the windows. Seriously, nobody should stay on floors 3-5 because of these noisy air-conditioning units unless you are deaf and can't really hear anything. Also, the views from these rooms are very poor. We did not get any room straight away but were promised a new room once we came back later in the afternoon. We went out for a day and came back late in the evening to pleasently find out that indeed we had a new room waiting for us on the 7th floor. That room was a quiet one, which was great. Also, the shower was working well this time. However, the TVs on all these rooms were similar, old and had a really crappy picture. The breakfast of the hotel was very basic but nothing special. The annoying thing was that they had only 1 waffle maker to make waffles. You can imagine the line of people waiting, so you did not want to make waffles....

I have a hard time recommending this hotel to anybody. However, if you go, do not have your expectations high, you will likely be disappointed. Also, make sure you will not stay in floors 3-5 if you like to sleep.

Great hotel, location and staff. I was very pleased considering this was a ferry/hotel package deal. Yes the hotel is old but well kept and maintained. Everyone is so nice and the rooms are clean. Within walking distance from the ferry and downtown. Would definitely stay here again. Hopefully in the near future they consider adding a microwave and refrigerator in the standard rooms.

Thank you very much for taking the time to comment on your stay, and in particular we appreciate the positive elements you mentioned. The Team is focused on providing a level of friendly and professional service that will override the fact that the hotel is not new, yet well maintained and clean.
Next time I hope we can accommodate you in one of the rooms with a kitchenette and that harbour view!
best regards,
Kay Koot, general manager

Left the card on the door for the room to be cleaned early so that I could work in the room,. Not done by 10, noon, 3 pm. Finally, just before 6 pm, called the front desk to learn that the cleaning staff had "forgot" to clean my room, provide clean towels, etc. And that no help was possible, as the cleaning staff leaves at 4:30 pm.
Add to that the very old funriture and bedding, dreary lighting, stained carpets, and lousy buffet breakfast for 15$.
I would never stay here again.

I do sincerely apologize, on behalf of the Housekeeping team, for your disappointing experience. I actually started as general manager on March 4th and am working with the leadership team on a few operational opportunities. I believe there are many positive aspects to the Harbour Towers Hotel & Suites, including the fabulous view of the harbour from most of the guestrooms and in particular the balconies, and cleanliness is a primary expectation - whether the furnishings are older or not.
I do hope that you might reconsider.

Think you're old? This place may make you feel young, but only comparatively speaking. Need a makeover? Not as badly as this hotel. OLD is the word of the day here- bed; carpet; funiture; bathroom faacilities. This is a place to stay when you're part of a high school basket ball team (there are dozens sitting near me in the coffee shop. Did I say coffeee shop? Breakfast is buffet or nothing. Coffee is included, but is not drinkable.
Did I mention OLD? I bought some TVs when my children were young in the 8os to get rid of the RCA TV in my room here, NOW.
I can't think of anything positive to say, except for maybe the water pressure in the shower.
Service- front desk unfriendly (3 am check-in; needed a warm smile). Restauarant? Buffet remember? Self serve.

Room Tip: Don't choose this hotel is your best bet.

I'm very sorry that you didn't find any of the positive elements that most of our other guests often comment on, even though the televisions are next on our refurbishment investment list. The pool, hot tub, exercise room, underground parking and fabulous views of the Inner Harbour from many of the rooms, not to mention that our front office associates are often being nominated and mentioned for the Victoria Hospitality Awards. It is unfortunate that the one that checked you in at 3 am did not have the friendly welcome, and for this I do apologize. Many of our rate offers are Packages which do include our hot breakfast buffet - including waffles that you make yourself. Hope you will give us another chance.
Best regards,

This is a decent hotel located close to the Victoria harbor and the BC parliament buildings.
The rooms were comfy and clean. Good TV options. Parking was limited.
Many restaurants in the area and I would avoid the one in this hotel.
The rate (over $100) was a little high for January as that is their slow time.

Room Tip: Facing the street gives you a view but comes with some early morning noises.

thanks for your review, and in particular noting some of the positives - such as large comfortable rooms, with great views of the Inner Harbour just 1 block away. Our new Chef Dustin is presenting a new menu in April, and we all will be looking for feedback!

My wife and I stayed here for one night on a quick visit to Victoria. I got the room from a priceline name your own price. I had read reviews that said the upper floors are the best. With the rate I received from priceline they said they could only put us as high as the 7th floor, which offers a partial view of the harbor. They could put us on the 10th floor, in a king suite, for 30 dollars more.

We paid for the upgrade, and it was worth it. The suite was spacious and had a terrific view. The gym is large and well equipped.

My husband and I stayed in Victoria last week, spending 4 nights in a king size one bedroom suite at Harbour Towers. The view from our 10th floor room of the inner harbour was gorgeous and we were more than pleased with our room. Lots of space, kitchenette included everything & more than suited our needs - especially as we received complimentary hot buffet breakfast every morning! Room amenities, overall appearance and cleanliness of the hotel were excellent. Staff were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable, from front desk, to restaurant, maintenance & cleaning personnel. What a treat! Great value for our money, free parking and the location for access to all downtown areas can't be more convenient.
