Quick business trip to Victoria. Nice & clean. Renovated old building done quite well - so was the Empress hotel. Other "higher end" hotels were full for corporate rates so I decided to try this. I will stay again.

The staff, the hotel, the room. All 5 star to say the least. From our greeting when we arrived (and received a free cheese platter and coffee and pastries) until the moment we left, this hotel treated us like we were honoured friends.

The room (located on the 3rd floor, number 300) was large and roomy with an exceptionally large bathroom. (warning to those that like tubs, a shower only). We overlooked a major street and were concerned about noise from traffic but weren't bothered once while we were there. The two queen beds were firm (but not like rocks) and the pillows were large and comfortable. The bathroom had a heated tile floor (the heating you could adjust).

The property is easily within walking distance of all the tourist attractions in Victoria.

The only complaint (and this is minor) is that our wake up call arrived 15 minutes AFTER we had requested.

I would heartily recommend this hotel to my friends and family!

Note: If you are arriving on the Pacific Coach Line Ferry/Bus from Vancouver, ask the driver to let you off at Douglas and Pandora (a regular stop for them). This is less than one block from your hotel!

We would have totally enjoyed our stay at the Rialto if our room had not been on the first floor near the street. Garbage trucks and motorcycles cruising down Pandora at 5AM did not make for a good night's rest.

Outside of that we found the hotel to be very nice. The front desk staff was very helpful on more than one occasion. It's centrally located, clean. If you stay there be sure to check out the collection of photos and memorabilia in the basement. The hotel was originally built by successful businessman, Lim Bang, over 100 years ago. We would definitely return, but definitely get a room away from the street.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the street

When you arrive there is no valet and the parking is two blocks away. The front desk was pleasant but not very accommodating. If you like to shower in a coffin then this is the hotel for you. Not please at all!

We stayed at the Hotel Rialto for 2 nights in July 2013.
Overall we had a fantastic stay and were very comfortable.
On the plus side our room was spacious with good comfortable beds. The hotel wasdwithin easy walking distance from all the attractions while not being completely in the centre of the main tourist area.
On the negative side, car parking is a block our two away from the hotel, the check in staff left us waiting for quite a while dealing with phone queries and the bathrooms were not very soundproof and you could hear too much in the room. Breakfast was also only a single pastry each.
None of the negatives were serious and they didn't detract too much from our overall impression and enjoyment of our visit

The Holtel Rialto is a perfect place to stay for the walking tourist.
We arrived on a sunny Sat. and for a two night stay on a clipper package from Seattle, WA.
Our room was very clean, comfortable, roomy, and nicely decorated.
The breakfast was the best I had all week and we enjoyed it both days with no drop in service or quality. I recommend the chef's daily omelette!
We were within walking distance of everything we wanted to see.
When we talked to locals in asking for a good place for drinks and relaxing after a full day, three of the five asked recomended The Veneto Tapa Lounge in the Hotel Rialto, another great experience. Top of the line bartenders! Spin the wheel and allow them to concoct a vibrant cocktail designed especially for you.
I highly recommend the Hotel Rialto.

We recently spent 2 nights at the Hotel Rialto and would choose to stay there again. The staff were all wonderful. Alex, at the front desk, was extremely pleasant and very helpful. The room was very clean and tastefully decorated and the bed nice and comfy. We ate breakfast at the Cafe Veneto and our meals were delicious. The location was perfect for walking anywhere in the city. We would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Victoria. We give it a 5 star rating.
