Certificate of Excellence

This is a little gem that is not to be missed if you are coming to Victoria. A friend and I just stayed there for one night and we both were truly astounded by the level of excellence we experienced and the value. This little hotel has been completely renovated and yet has kept it`s history and glimpses into the past for all to enjoy. The staff were all, to a person, extremely friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our bags early, park the car in a secure gated parking lot, and when we returned a few hours later we found our bags up in our room. The whole hotel simply gleams but the room was very impressive and you could be in any part of the world. Very clean and spacious with a beautiful bathroom and top quality toiletries. There is a heated floor but we were there on a very hot day and so the air conditioning was very welcomed. If you have forgotten anything it probably won`t be a problem. There are robes, a blow dryer, an iron, a microwave, a coffee maker amongst many things. The drapes and bedding were all quite luxurious and the beds very comfortable. The Veneto Tapa lounge is excellent with beautiful tall windows to the world and became the spot where we were welcomed for drinks and a wonderful tray of cheese and appies. There was an adjoining dining area which looked very impressive. The breakfast the next morning was again in another bright and spacious little dining area where we had superb French pressed coffee and for us just a delicious muffin but there was much more available. And once again a lovely staff looking after everything. Check out continued to be great with Michael who once again looked after our bags so we could wander Chinatown a block away before getting the car and leaving. We can highly recommend this hotel and congratulate the owners on a truly impressive renovation. The attention to detail is quite extraordinary.

I had the pleasure of staying here three nights. Loved the atmosphere of the hotel, was welcomed and treated like I was royalty, room was superb, clean, had everything you could want away from home. A very comfortable king size bed, darkening drapes to sleep in a bit if you wanted too, heated floors in bathroom a nice touch, coffee machine, microwave, and flat screen tv. the staff was exceptionally friendly especially Maureen, Micheal and Alex. Very informative on shops around area also, had the pleasure of enjoying some of tne nightlife around hotel. I was pleased how i never heard noise from other rooms around me. Enjoyed eating breakfast downstairs. The breakfast was delicious, I highly recommend staying at hotel Rialto with the elegance and charm it has to offer, I will be coming back at Xmas time to experience again in all it's glory,

This is a boutique hotel in a 100 year old building in the center of old Victoria, across from City Hall and a block from China Town. The location was perfect and we walked to the Royal BC museum as well as wandering. The staff take their job seriously: the desk clerks serve as concierges and inquire about what we wanted to do and see, giving advice about restaurants, etc. When we discovered that a lamp knob was stripped and called down to the front desk, there was someone up in a couple of minutes who then returned with a new knob within about 5 minutes - unlike our typical experience of even positive responses when one hopes that repairs have been made when one returns after a day out. Finally, the room, while not large, was adequately sized and fully equipped: coffee maker, microwave, fridge, flat screen TV and free wireless internet.

The only negative was low water pressure.

We only stayed in Victoria for one night for our anniversary. We live nearby and wanted a quick mini vacation from parenthood! We got a free upgrade to the "romance" room, which had a huge bathtub. When we got to the room, there was a hand-written anniversary card from the staff and a voucher for a free cheese platter at the hotel restaurant. The room was clean, quiet (despite the hotel's location right downtown on Douglas street), stylish and modern. Dinner and drinks at Veneto were great (including that good-size cheese platter). Every staff member we met was kind, genuine, friendly, and helpful. Even the cleaners we met in the hall stopped to smile and chat with us. It's nice to stay in a place where the staff seems genuinely proud of their workplace. They made our awesome weekend perfect. Thanks! We'll definitely be back.

We had a reservation at another property on July 14 and 15th, 2012. Upon arrival at the other property it was immediately apparent the conditions were unacceptable. We contacted other properties in Victoria, BC and fortunately Hotel Rialto was able to accommodate us (two couples, two rooms) immediately.

Maureen and Michael, who were on duty when we arrived at the Reception Desk were extremely helpful, pleasant and professional. They were able to provide us with two "king rooms" on the 4th and 5th floors that were outstanding. The rooms were refurbished approximately six months prior and were fabulously decorated and extremely comfortable.

Additionally, Maureen took extra time and went above and beyond her duty to assist us in getting our proper credit from the credit card company for the property which we had previously reserved. Her assistance was invaluable!

Michael, who we saw more often during our two day stay, also went above and beyond his duties to assist us with caring for our cars after they were "bombarded" by Seagull droppings in the parking lot.

The cafe was very nicely decorated, very clean and pleasant, as well as reasonably priced for breakfast. The service was excellent and the food very good! As a matter of fact, Michael and Maureen had given us "coupons" that gave us discounts on the food for breakfast for both days.

The Veneto Tapa restaurant and bar were equally upscale regarding decorations and environment, and the service, food and drinks were all excellent!

My wife and I, as well as the couple who traveled with us, were all impressed by the hotel and staff and would definitely stay there again. You should give it a try...We're certain you will have the same wonderful experience.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms above the 2nd floor. They were refurbished more recently.
