“Wonderful”
Reviewed May 9, 2013

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights at the beginning of May. On arrival we were greeted by very friendly front of house staff. We had a 1 bedroom suite on the 15th floor which was lovely. It had a fridge, microwave, kettle, coffee maker and toaster in the kitchen area. There was a large flat screen tv in the lounge as well as a huge one in the bedroom. The views were amazing both from our room and in Vista 18. Clive's Bar is wonderful and the staff are so welcoming, don't forget to try a cocktail, they are delicious. I am a travel agent and will definitely recommend this wonderful hotel to my clients.

Many thanks for the review Lynn. It was great meeting you and hearing about your perspective our destination while on site. Also, so nice of you to go public upon you return home. There has always been a strong tie between Victoria and Britain. Your efforts to sell our destination will only strengthen that. Good luck to you. We look forward to welcoming your clients soon.

Right in the heart of downtown Victoria this recently refurbished hotel is the place to stay. Large comfortable beds with very helpful staff. The views from the upstairs bar are worth a visit. Fee parking and wifi included in our package made for a fabulous stay.

This hotel has it all...clean well equipped rooms at an extremely affordable price. We stayed in a king suite with separate bedroom, and living room. Very well furnished with a couch, chair/ottoman and a desk. A sink, microwave and refrigerator we also provided. The property is just northeast of the Empress, which hosted a convention we were attending. For the two block walk, we had a much nicer room at less than two-thirds the cost of a stay at the Empress. The entire property is quite clean. Unlike a lot of ore properties in the area, the parking and Internet are no extra charge. The Vista 18 restaurant on e top floor offers excellent food with an amazing view of the city, especially at night. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: King suites are on e building corners. Request a southwest corner, specify a view of the harbor.

We were celebrating my birthday, so I made a reservation for 24 people for Breakfast in the restaurant there, Vista 18. The staff were fantastic and very helpful, although the young lady who took the initial reservation wrote P.M. instead of A.M.! All my guests loved the menu. the waitress who was our "hostess" was fabulous, the view wonderful. My only thought was about how long it took the food to arrive, but we had a fabulous morning.

Thank you and happy belated birthday JudyT, I am glad to see we handled your group for breakfast despite the error on PM for the reservation. A large table like that will slow individual orders down somewhat but the kitchen would generally take steps ahead of time to prepare for a peak in orders. Our mistake on the reservation was the reason for delivery time so our apologies for that. It is a great room for celebrations like yours and I am glad to see it worked out well for you.

Chateau Victoria is located in the heart of the down town area, if you are able to walk about there is lots to see and do within a 20 minute walk radius. Lots of restaurants to temp everyone's taste. Coffee shops, boutiques, Imax, parleament buildings, museum, gift shops, etc. The hotel is VERY clean, we were on the 4th floor with newly renovated rooms. Standard hotel room, with a wonderful king bed, pillows and linens. The size of the room reflects the era when rooms were smaller but we had everything we needed. If you are a Large person the bathroom may be considered small, but we had no problem, all new bath items it looked like a new hotel - the renos were well done. The check in staff were wonderful, a parking attendant told us of a newly freed up parking space just a few cars away from the lobby enterance (otherwise we would have to park up the street in an open parkade). Parking was free and we did get a bit of a discount by calling the hotel direct. There was a mini fridge in the room and a coffee pot and a kettle. Was impressed with the very large flat screen HD TV.
Next time we visit Victoria this is where I want to return to. Did I mention very clean and a very comfortable bed.
The air conditioning units are inside the room with easy controls.

Room Tip: We were on the 4th floor (maybe all those rooms are newly renovated).

Thank you for the review Bunchkin. Very thorough in your assessment. You are correct in guessing your room is new. All our traditional rooms on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors are done. The rest of the hotel is one and two bedroom suites. I'm glad you enjoyed our city and our hotel and we hope you can return soon.

My family and I stay at the Chateau Victoria every few months. They accommodate my children with a large room and an extra cot, plus we usually have a suite with a kitchen. The indoor pool is fantastic, but there is no shallow end, so make sure your kids bring water wings. As an Executive member, I usually get a great rate for a suite ($99-$129) plus free parking and a voucher for $10.00 off room service. Overall, this hotel has had great service over the years and I would recommend it to families who want good value for their money. Location is ideal as well!

Room Tip: We loved room 1406! Corner room. Nice and bright with a kitchenette.

Thank you for your review Ms. Hayley1202. Just to be clear to all, our Executive Club is for frequent travelers to our hotel. Rates are fixed at low and high season instead of demand driven rates. The high season rate is $149 and not $129 but it is still an amazing deal. If you travel to town at least 6 times per year, this may be the plan for you. email sales@chateauvictoria.com for more details and to sign up.

Photos of hotel and rooms were fabualous on line but in person, the rooms were not current. We reserved a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath. We were unpleasantly surprised by 1 & 1/2 bath. We had 6 people to share 1 shower. Advertised was an indoor pool. The pool was very cool. Only 3 out of 6 in our party used the pool due to the cool temperture. The pool was also 5ft -9ft. Is not suitable for young kids who do not swim or need assistance from a shorter adult. Parking was full and valet man not readily available. I approached the front desk twice during my 24 hr stay and each time had to wait for staff to look up and acknowledge me. I did not feel appreciated as a guest to their hotel. Good location to downtown and food. Corner room was bright & sunny. Overall the room was very quiet.

Dear aimee f, I am sorry to hear we fell short of your expectations. Generally families love the hotel and the staff. It looks bathroom availability was at the root of your concern and we could have certainly helped with that if we had asked the right questions at the time of booking. I am determined to have you give us another try so will try and contact you directly to see what we can do for you.
