John Lewis House B&B

This B and B was one of the best we stayed in over a 3 week tour of the Pacific North West. Victoria is a really pretty city and the John Lewis House was well placed for an easy walk into the city centre or, in the other direction, to the cruise terminal and views of the US and Olympic State Park. There are also plenty of places for inexpensive eats nearby.

The rooms are spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished and the breakfasts were great, especially the homemade Granola and the homemade muffins. We would definately stay here again!

Everything about the John Lewis House was excellent - honestly, from the Inkeepers, to the rooms, beds, decor, location. The breakfasts were really delicious - - choice of dining outside or inside. The B&B is 1.5 blocks from the water. If you are going to Victoria, the John Lewis House is a "must stay".

I stayed three nights at the John Lewis House and would enthusiastically recommend it for anyone looking for a B&B-type atmosphere in Victoria.

The entire house was extremely clean and quiet with simple, uncluttered decor (no kitch, nic-nacs or cutesy themes in the bedrooms).

FANTASTIC location--about 5-10 minutes walk from all the sights downtown and even less to the beach and a beautiful, sprawling park.

Very friendly hosts with unfailingly good recommendations about activities, restaurants and transportation. Also, amazing cooks--the breakfasts were lavish, delicious, and struck just the right balance between healthy and indulgent. Everything was home-cooked fresh and even included fruits and vegetables from their own garden!

Only things I can think of that someone might object too are:

1) No TVs in the bedrooms. This isn't an issue for me and means less chance of noise. And there's a flat screen TV in the common living room if you need a fix.

2) Bathrooms are adjacent to the bedrooms, so you do need to step about 2 feet out of the bedroom to reach the bathroom. However, with only 1 other bedroom (which has it's own adjacent bathroom) in the house, I didn't have any privacy concerns whatsoever. And the bathroom itself was clean and modern.

Also, guests have access to a lovely front porch, back porch, and enclosed sun room in addition to the living room, so there's lots of space outside of the bedrooms.

John Lewis House in Victoria, British Columbia, is a wonderful gem within a 15 minute walk to downtown. It’s close to the Parliament Buildings, waterfront and the Historic Empress Hotel. A beautiful heritage home with two charming rooms to rent. The beds are very comfortable and each room has its own bathroom.

Hosts, Bob and Becky are wonderfully accommodating and can make recommendations on places to dine and things to do and see. Breakfast was amazing. Homemade granola, jams and jellies, fruit salad, yogurt, toast and a lovely crepe fortified us for the day of sightseeing. If you’d rather sit on the patio and enjoy a glass of wine this is the place to do it with a pretty garden in the back or a large veranda out front. We would highly recommend John Lewis House and will definitely visit again.

My husband and I traveled to Victoria on our honeymoon and stayed at John Lewis House for 1 night. It was marvelous! Becky and Bob were wonderful hosts. They were very flexible in terms of our arrival time and cooked a fantastic breakfast for us in the morning. The house is charming (albeit a bit creaky) and is a 15-20 minute walk to the downtown area. I would recommend this bed and breakfast!
