Probably the most scenic graveyard in Canada, although the big one in Fredricton is nice, too. Watch out for deer these days, though - and remember, you can't take your dog (which is just as well, since deer have ticks).

Cemeteries are a wonderful place to wander through and get a feel of a city and its people. Ross Bay Cemetery contains the graves of many of our leading citizens of the past. Whole families are buried here generation after generation because they invested in plots many decades ago. You may be able to read in history books about the men themselves but often not about their wives and children. As a family tree researcher you can add in children that were born and died between census recordings or locate the reason why a child suddenly disappeared off your radar. If nothing else it is a pleasant place to stroll and enjoy the soft ocean breezes and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city itself.

Love this place. Very calming. Must say though when I was 20 something a girl friend and I went there during a sunny day. We walked about for an hour reading headstones we found interesting. We stopped and stood looking up at one of the large trees when I kind of freaked. A leaf that was not attached to the tree any longer was bobbing up and down about 5 feet off the ground. Scared us both have to death. Then a cloud had moved and let the sun come through to shine down on the leaf. It was attached to a branch via a spider web! Talk about laugh until our stomach's hurt. I think with relief!!

Made a quick visit to this Cemetery during our visit to Victoria, BC. I enjoy looking at the stones and walking through the grounds of a cemetery - very peaceful. The cemetery is quite big so you can take as much or as little of time as needed.

Interesting historical walk. There are tours Sundays. Add this to a walk down Dallas road. Then pop across to the coffee shop for a snack and a latte
