If you like looking at old cemetaries and have some knowledge of British Colunbia history, this is a fascinating place to spend an afternoon. You'll find yourself poking around all the nooks and crannies of this early cemetary trying to spot names you recognize.

Ross Bay Cemetery has over 27,000 interments, and is fascinating to stroll through. There are former premiers, pioneers, artists, and family groups. As well, there are hundreds of wonderful trees and plants, making for beautiful walks at all times of the year. Tours are available but it's also nice to just wander and find quiet spots to stop.

Not many large headstones, but lots of unusual ones, including an interesting tribute to those lost at sea. If you are interested in cemetaries, particularly those with ties to the local history, this one is worth a visit.

Not the oldest graveyard in B.C., but the largest old one. Monuments date back to the turn of the 20th century, and most of the important people in B.C.'s early history are buried here. Ross Bay Cemetery has the oldest surviving formal landscape design in BC and is a superb example of a Victorian-era burial ground. Unusual trees and plantings, winding carriageways, graves with intriguing marble, sandstone and granite monuments, make for an interesting stroll, especially for kids.
